My all time favorite is George Straight....I am a county boy after all....
but in the last hour or so I have listen to
Huey Lewis
Lynard Skynard
Joey and Rory,
Patsy Cline,
Brian Adams
Eagles
and ZZ top
Just to name a few....and Jimmy Buffet......
I am a Florida Boy.....and its the law down here!
enjoy jazz, some classical, some R&B....but its mostly country for me!
Cant stand Rap, hip hopp, or 60 hippies music....
or disco...
John Denver before he got drunk and flew his Pitts Special into the ground
Doug Kershaw.. Just got to love Cajun music. Makes me dance around the kitchen will cooking Jambalaya/
Hank Williams..Good old Honky Tonk country music
Patsy Cline... She sang like an angel
The Chieftans..Traditional Irish Music
Hum..They are all dead but Kershaw and the Chieftans. I guess I am out of touch.
P.S. I also like classical music. Yitzak Pearlman on the violin and Yoyo Ma on the chello are wonderful. I groove on strings. I went to a Pearlman concert once in Tel Aviv. I thought I was in heaven.

Marty Robbins none better; Glenn Yarbrough, Frankie Lane as they sang alot of the theme songs to the TV westerns. I prefer western music from Don Edwards, Michael M Murphy, Ian Tyson, RW Hampton. I dont care for the country music out of nashville these days except for Alison Krauss.
I have no particular band/artist that I prefer, although there are many that I like and more that I don't. There's too many to list. I like most of what's been mentioned, but will add Def Leppard and AC/DC. Kenny Rogers and Dolly doing "Island in the Stream" was outstanding, particularly through a set of Altec-Lansings. And I know all of the words to A Pirate Looks At Forty.
Waylon, Willie, George J., Conway, Johnny, George S., Marty, Johnny H., Hank Sr., Hank Jr.,...pretty much any classic country with todays mixed in.
.38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, Def Leppard, Jimmy Hendrix, Eagles, Foreigner, Quiot Riot, Ratt, ect... Pretty much any thing.

"I haven't lost my temper in forty years, but pilgrim you caused a lot of trouble this morning, might have got somebody killed... and somebody oughta belt you in the mouth. But I won't, I won't. The *hell* I won't!" John Wayne as G.W. McLintock
I have gone through phases, and like a variety of music, but my favorite band has always been AC/DC.
"...In this present crisis, government isn't the solution to the problem; government is the problem." Ronald Reagan
"...all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." Declaration of Independence
The Band
The Allmann Bros.
The Tragically Hip
The Talking Heads
King Crimson, especially with Adrian Belew
but I can listen to Sam Cooke over and over all day and all night long.
Lyle Lovett is one of the all-time best songwriters.
damienph, Moving Waves was my first vinyl and I have a pretty big collection of Focus
long-haired music? DeBussy, Ricard Strauss (4 last songs and all the lieder), Delibis, Mozart, Bach concertos, Beethoven's 8th (his tribute to Mozart) and Corelli violin sonatas.
also an early recording of Heifetz playing Franck violin sonata in A. The second movement of Beethoven's 9th when conducted properly is an astounding piece, as is the Confutatis from Mozart's Requiem. I have a pretty good collection of Hungaratron analog recordings on vinyl. The communists knew how to focus their performances on the composer rather than their egos - Izzak Perlman's recorded performance of Vivaldi's 4 seasons is self-aggrandizing - it should be about the weather, not about him.
speaking of Beethoven's 9th, this is the best recording I've ever heard - I have it on vinyl - 4 sides.
It's 90 minutes long, the way Beethoven intended - this music is destroyed when its rushed, and most early recordings were 60 minutes to get it on 2 sides of vinyl http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/mus ... +No.+9.htm

I'm getting old. In my old age I find I long for the guns of my youth.
Revolvers and 1911's were the handguns of my youth.
I know them and I trust them.
>John Denver before he got drunk and flew his Pitts Special into the ground
It was a Long EZ which he had previously flown for only 1/2 hour and, although he had problems with drink, there was no alcohol in him when he crashed.
My favorite....Back when it was called C & W and didn't cross over into three different other styles. Dear Lord, I heard Country Rap the other day.....

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
Thomas Jefferson
Pisgah... I did some research and you are 100% correct. Either my memory is faulty or some news reports at the time were incorrect. Either way, I am glad to be wrong. Seems like he didn't refuel the plane and when trying to switch tanks, he had trouble with the fuel selector switch. The family won a lawsuit against the maker of the switch.

Oh, I forgot Johnny Lee doing a version of Michael Martin Murphy's song Cherokee Fiddle.

a Pennsylvanian who has been accused of clinging to my religion and my guns......Good assessment skills.
John Denver before he got drunk and flew his Pitts Special into the ground
When JD crashed into Monterey Bay he was piloting an experimental fiberglass push prop aircraft. He had "control issues" previously, but I'm not aware of any alcohol being involved in the fatal accident.

Patsy Cline is/was a favorite, as are Crystal Gayle, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, and Willie.
Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer band have always been a favorite. Ditto the Grateful Dead before Jerry flamed out.
