Does a slide "lever" count?

Hey I'm getting closer to a levergun post - two semi auto guns, a single shot now this...

I was on gunbroker - being a good boy actually - handling the sale of one of my other guns - to cover some purchases...

And then I remembered the article in Rifle Magazine by John Barsness - about pump action rifles... that I just read a couple days ago.. well, I've always kinda wanted one but never found the reason or whatever to get one...

But, I was on gunbroker and so decided to take a look around. John had made the statement that there were a bunch on gb and for cheap - and he was right.



$319. I couldn't resist. It's a Remington 760, 30-06 made in 1953 - low, four digit serial number. No extra holes in the receiver, all the parts are there... bore is good... what's not to like?

The cheapo scope and see-through mounts are coming off and I'll probably put a Redfield 3x9 in low mounts on her - after I check the accuracy with the irons...

I'll give you one bonus point for trying a slide lever.

I tried one of the Browning Pump Rifles (BPR) in 30-06 last year and it has now turned into two and number three is calling me. I like them.

I had one of the Remington's (30-06) w/ the black composite stocks, but my son in law took it from me. It was my truck gun and I sure miss it.

I was tempted by one of those until I used my buddy's Rem model 141 in 35 Rem . Lighter and better balanced. But I would be tempted by a 35 Whelen carbine. When the barrel is shortened they balance better. Compared to the cost of new rifles they are a steal.

141's are a totally different design. The 760 is basically an 870 sans tube magazine and adding the box mag.

I just bought a Rem.141 in 35 Rem. It'll never replace any of my Marlins, but I can't wait to play with this neat oldie - and ya' just can't have too many 35 Rems. This one also came with an original Lyman dual aperture rear sight attached. Anyone have any idea what level of accuracy to expect relative to a lever or bolt action ?

FWIU the 20ga 870 pistol grips, collapsing stocks etc all fit.

Cool! You should expect around 2", 100 yard groups if everything is right. If you don't know: Notice the magazine tube is spiraled? This keeps the tips of the rounds from touching the primers - very cool design. And it allows you to load pointy bullets if you want (still have to watch overall cartridge length).

Buy now anyone that knows me on here knows I love the pumps, and thats about one of the best.
That is a fantastic gun and in 30-06(anything in North America is fair game) I like it a lot!
But, no scope for me on that sleek beauty! Just a fast light powerful joy to behold hunting stuff in the woods! Just try it open sighted first?

Yes, I will But if it shoots well with the irons, it'll get a Redfield scope. My eyes are begining to change and the mid-mount sights are getting iffy

Of course, I could just put an aperture on it - I think williams makes a WRG for these?

And an update on the auction - thus far, I haven't gotten a call back from the seller - he's got a large number of feedbacks and no negatives in the last 120 days, so he's probably just out of pocket... but I wish he'd call or email... I am very prompt with this myself when selling....

So far, the seller hasn't called back or emailed.... I am figureing that he's just out of pocket this weekend...

I really try and respond immediately with any buyers when I sell - but this guy is an FFL and has a lot of auctions, so he's probably not quite as responsive... he does have a large positive trade rating and no negatives in the last 120 days, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I expect a response tomorrow at the latest. If he's on vacation for a week then he needs to make some provision to let people know that...
