A quick search of gunbroker is telling me it's a steal but there's no bids on those auctions.
My thinking is that its a deal but wanted a second opinion.

Hornady even makes a jacketed bullet specifically for it. It's a 220gr fp interlock and 38 grains of RL7 will push it about 2200fps. It's a bit of a snotslinger but I know of quite a few people that load their's down to 38-55 velocities.
Only i've found one under $600 in the last week or so that I've been researching and it was badly rusted.tman wrote:Looking to reaquire a non angle eject one in decent shape. won't go above $350.00.so I may have to be a little patient

fat chance on that.350 wouldn't make a down payment on minetman wrote:Looking to reaquire a non angle eject one in decent shape. won't go above $350.00.so I may have to be a little patient

rob I have used imr 4227,2400 and going to try some AA5744 next.in my rifle I have that it has a sweet spot at 1500 to 1600 fps.you can push it faster but there isn't any need for me as I used to hunt the brushy areas and a long shot was 70 yards.Rob Worsham wrote:thats the exact sight I have had on mine for 29 years TxPete! I have loaded 270s for my .375 but I love the look of those 280s. What is your load for those? I have never recovered bullets from mine as well, even with factory Winchester 200s on muleys, large pigs, goats, coyotes, and whatever else. Like I said, blows a train tunnel, big and all the way through.
I searched far and wide when I bought mine. If you find one on your terms, it will be just this side of a tomato stake.tman wrote:Looking to reaquire a non angle eject one in decent shape. won't go above $350.00.so I may have to be a little patient

the front sight is stock on my winchester.the orginal rear sight didn't work with the factory 250 gr load IIRC the load shot very high.I had williams sights on my other lever actions so ordered one when I got back from shooting that day.RSY wrote:Pete:txpete wrote:
Are you using the factory front sight with your Williams FP??? Just curious, as that's what I've always done with my BB94, but have also always kinda wanted a blade for the Williams.

The stock front sight is OK with an aperture sight, but it's not as precise as a blade.damienph wrote:Mine is a top eject, ser#BB0154XX (age?). I also have a Williams receiver sight on mine, never had a problem with the stock front sight. What is the problem that many seem to have with the front sight hood? I prefer it and keep them on all of my rifles that came with them.
