Man, I understand hating to go to the dentist, but isn't this taking it to the extreme? You're lucky the dentist didn't send you to an obstetrician

Last time I went to my dentist (who is a patient of mine, so I have to give him some leeway), it was because I thought there was 'obviously' a problem with the tooth he recently had worked on (an upper molar), due to pain in that area.

After examining the tooth, he said "Actually, it's not your tooth, but if you had a decent family doctor, he'd have told you it was actually a sinus infection..."

Just for that, next time he comes in, I'm gonna check his prostate twice...

No kidding.

$600 worth of dental followed by an ER trip and a 35mi Ambulance trip for midnite surgery. (Hey AJ, don't GenSurgs get tripple OT for that?) :? And that doesn't include the $140 in brake repairs ALSO happening the same day.

No kidding. I am frequently in the OR with an inmate getting either a Hernia, Gall Bladder or Api dealt with.

Pretty cool to watch. Wish I could have stayed awake for it.

Heal up fast OI. Don't push yourself too hard too soon. I'm speaking from experience - not with an appentecomy, but with my back surgery last year.

Oh yeah. Going to take the week to putter around the house and organize the Library. Doc won't release me for work until next week at the earliest anyway.

But I AM almost off the Perc's. Don't like the things anyway. I just wish there was a non IV way to get Toradol. I MUCH prefer it for inflammatory type pain management...

Glad to hear you are on the mend.

3 years ago mine burst. Put off getting mild pain looked at for a month, though it was just a strain. The pain was everything they advertised it too be. Missed 6 weeks work from the infection.

OI,
Ain't that somethin'? In todays world, what you had happen ended up as a mild inconvienence. In the old days--you would be dead.

I sure like all of the old stuff, how the world operated, the respectfulness of common folk, less stress, etc.............

But nothing........nothing beats todays medical technology.

Glad to see your kickin' Sometimes we all need something to slow us down a bit. I'm due for it as my job is getting on my nerves somethin' terrible and the funny thing about is that I have no problems at work. I just hate spending my time doing what others tell me to do. I wanna shoot, reload, cast bullets, hunt, go to gun auctions, hang out on Leverguns............. :D -------------Sixgun

Read an article in an "old times history" newspaper thingy about western NE.

Seems that in the late 1800s there was a successful appendectomy done on the kitchen table in a tar paper shack using nothing but Whiskey as anesthesia and hot water/whiskey as an abdominal cavity lavage.

Patient survived another dozen years to live to a ripe old age of 45 or so.

Edit: Happened in Alliance NE in the 1890s. Presiding Doctor was one W.H. Smith. Patient was Simon Spray.
