"Keith's Rifles for Large Game"
Found a copy today. It's a first edition printed in 1946 and in excellent shape. Sometimes life is good!!

Re: "Keith's Rifles for Large Game"
I have both books plus a few others. I believe Elmer was the real deal. He might have not let the story get the worse for the telling, but I believe he actually was there and did what he said.
When I was a kid, I would read his stuff and Jack O'Connor's stuff, and being a fan of the .270, myself, I would sometimes wonder if Elmer was off of his rocker, but later on, after I had gained more experience, I could see both sides. I think they were both right, based on there style of hunting and their personal experiences.

You should buy Keith's "Gun notes" they have letters exchanged between Keith and O'Connor.

And there were some heated words in those letters, too...
Neither one was shy, that's for sure! They both had the experience to back it up, though...

Great book and nice find. Every book of Elmer Keith is worth every dollar.
One of my all time favorite Keith books - Safari or Hell I was there.

I have "Hell, I was There" also, I hope to have all of his books someday. I was going through the book last night and there is much to learn!! I looked at the cleaning of corrosive primers, and he does it the same way as I was taught, usually there is much discussion on how to clean up after corrosive primers.

WOW - Keith's books would have been something to invest in...!
Back in the days when spending $10 for a book vs. a brick of .22 LR, I passed on buying several of his books, and merely borrowed them (and yes, I did return them) to read.
Now I wish I'd bought several of each; I could buy a Ruger No. 1 African for the profits I'd make selling them.
