.357 Magnum - 6" stainless steel Securtity Six or 6" S&W Mod. 28. Now, if I just still owned either one...? :( Most times, sellin' or tradin' leaves one with regrets down the road.

Of what I have; 65LS (Lady Smith)--rare K-blend of satin stainless, fixed sight, full lug 3"
Of what I don't (ie, the 65LS doesn't exist), 4" 686+

TEOTWAWKI as one gent described:

Of what I have: especially if wilderness scenario: 44 Mag Vaquero, with added Bowen (Cements, etc) sight package for wilderness duty. I like the low glare/vis of my blued model, weather resistence of my stainless, so I'll say beadblast the SS or ay least scotchbrite it.

Of what I don't have:
1911 5" or commander bob--the former if having to double as wilderness/hunting duty, ideally 10mm, but probably .45 for ammo availability.
I like COSteve's approach but also a bit to big for my little paws as someone else mentioned. Maybe a slightly scaled down version of same concept?

Either category:
Honorable mention: Ruger Montado (New Vaquero 3.75") .357 or newly added .44 Special in same shorty configuration or 4-7/8." Both are the cat's meow and what I might choose on "Lost"--aka Survivor--Island or Man In The Wilderness scenario. Simplicity/reliability of SA for the ever-popular "indeterminate" time scenario, but probably not having to worry too much about "traditional" CCW SD or HD needing home intrusion double tap,...just the occasional Komodo or mountain lion.

Sentimental favorite (can only take one out of a house fire): "4th" Gen (2008) SAA non-catalogued .44 Special 5.5".

Only one handgun!!! It would have to be a .22LR. Which one would be a difficult choice. I have:

2 Ruger Mark I pistols
1 Ruger Bearcat
1 Cobra Derringer

I'd have to say I'd more than likely pick one of the Ruger Mark I pistols.

Colt Python 4" blued. I carried it for 24 yrs and it still is in my nightstand as my middle of the night "go to" if I don't have time to get the shotgun in my closet. It sure would be hard to give up my Browning Hi-Power practical. Can't we have two? :)

A SAA , well tuned and sighted in. I own several , but I'm disappointed in the Colts . Spent a lot of money ,can''t hit the barn , Cimarron Bisley .45 Colt that I just about can't miss . Much less money required . Pretty too. And I like my Marlin .45 cowdboy.
