OT: Picked up this little booger
I've been wanting to mess around with one of these for a while. I traded an old scope for it even. I could replace the scope with a brand new one for $159, so I think the trade was fair. It came with an ITW holster too. The primary use is for jogging. I run every night 2 miles around our housing area, it is a big circle in a rural area. If a varmint of some sort comes along I can get it away and if a human predator wants to act foolish I have no problem sending a projectile up their nose or down their throat. The Remington Lightning 22LR gets 823 fps at 8 feet from the muzzle. If I use the sights and hold 6 o'clock on a soda can I can hit it every time at 7 yards. It is the only gun I've tried that sits in my cotton jogging shorts pocket without bouncing around. It also made the trip last night riding in the ITW holster and it stayed put to the point I forgot about it. Here it is with a tube of ChapStick:

Good trade. One of those is on my short list. But what kind of scope are you gonna put on it?
Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
Congrats. Always like those, and may eventually pick one out as the prices are reasonable.

Very nice!
I bet you are going to like the size of that little gun so much you will start carrying it somtimes more than just when jogging.
Could be a nice little piece for the wife to carry too.

I think .22s are just dandy. I carry a AirLite often.

They make a folding grip holster that is pretty trick for those. It has a clip to clip it to your waistband and when you open it if makes for easier shooting. You can run one of those pretty fast if you cock it with your left thumb while you are shooting. It makes the gun like a pocket knife.
Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
I know Paco carries one. The Black Widow model in .22 Mag. The Magnum version can be pretty devastating. I'm sure the LR would still change someone's intentions.

Now pick up one of Crimson Traces' laser sights for it and impress the heck out of you friends. I can keep it in the black at 25yds. Try that with the iron sights. Mines a .22 mag short barreled version. And heck, CT also sells a bayonet.

The little laser North American Arms sells would make a seriously useful addition, since that gun is pretty hard to aim. Not 'bulky', either, in fact.jeepnik wrote:Now pick up one of Crimson Traces' laser sights for it and impress the heck out of you friends. I can keep it in the black at 25yds. Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
Been thinking of picking up one of those someday myself. I had an American Derringer in .357 mag for years, but it weighed almost as much as my Chief's Special (and more than my new 340 airlite) It would also blind you if you shot it at dusk or later

Cool!
I always fondle those at the NRA shows each year. Someday I'll find the deal on one I want - and maybe actually have some money to spend on it too!

Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
I got one in nearly new condition in the box in 22 magnum this summer for $150.00. I just took it out and shot it some this evening. I'm starting to get the hang of it, and putting some rounds on target. It does take some getting used to with the skimpy little stocks.

Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
I have one of the 22LR/mag pieces and it rode with me for about six months while on patrol as my backup. I even dispatched a pig that dogs had tore up so bad it had to be put down. One shot to the head with the 22 mag and it was all over. Haven't played with it for a long time.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .
Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
I have one with the 22lr and 22 Mag cylinders, and it is light enough that I can hide in a pocket anywhere it is legal to carry. I got a little plastic pill carrier from a drugstore and put in several extra rounds as a reload. If you put some cotton in it, then your "Pills" don't rattle around. I especially like the notch between the cylinders for the hammer/firing pin to rest in so that you can carry it fully loaded and not rest the hammer on a live round.

They are working on a little top break version. I not sure just where they are in producing it, but it sure would be a fun little gun.

Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
UPDATE - I spoke to Sandy, the President of North American Arms. He offered to upgrade my gun for free. He is going to have them install a serrated trigger, latest cylinder, revamped super reliable ignition system and fit slightly larger grips - all for the return postage! Once in a while I find a company that really does go out of their way with customer service and I'm glad to report that NAA is one of them.

Re: OT: Picked up this little booger
I have one of these in a 22 short. My ex's Dad won it in at a shooting match and I got it when he passed in '87. I have shot it but it's not very practical however it does look cool.
