OT- My new toy - Harley Davidson Sportster

Post by Aussie Chris »

Well thought I would blow a little of my hard earned on a 2011 Iron 883. I have wanted this bike since it came out in 2009 and just picked it up from the dealer today. It is the first 2011 Iron 883 in Aus and its mine
I can't get the smile of my face!

Just gotta put all the goodies I got for it like the blacked out slip on exhausts and buckshot pipe covers. Might flip the mirrors too...

Cool scoot --- i am partial to Sportsters as well. Mine had a little more chrome on it than yours though  I rode it as an 883 for about a year until i blew the rear cylinder head gasket. Then i blew it out to 1200 cc with a few more go-fast mods.

Have fun with yours :D

Here is my scoot. Just a slightly modified Harley Rocker C. Nothing too fancy, just 105hp with two wheels. It's getting repainted this winter as the current doesn't do it for me. Trying to get some riding in before the weather hits here in South Dakota.

Love the Sporty. :D I still remember when the XR750s ruled the flat tracks, and the color of victory was orange and black!

I have a 2005 that I would not part with. At a rally once, a fella asked me why I only bought "half a Harley." I told him I was not old and fat enough to need a "road sofa!"

Good luck with your new sportster. My first Harley was a 1200 XLH Sportster, but I sold it, after getting a 98 Wide Glide which I still have. My Sportster was a good machine, and never gave me any problems, but I am a lot bigger then you are and it was really too small for me, so now I ride the Wide Glide with apehangers, and I also have a 2004 Roadking, which is a good bike but I still prefer the Wide Glide for most of my riding.

Nice ride. My first Harley was a 1000 XLX in 84. Ran that one into 98 olds. Next one was a 1994 Low rider custom that had some nice engine work. Below is my 2006 Street Bob as it looked when it went into the shop this weekend. It won't look the same this time next week. It is getting a face lift. (16inch ape hangers, Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather, Heads bored out, New jugs and pistons taking it from 88 to 95 inches, new cams, cam bearings, engine tuner, slash cut oversize pipes, springer solo seat in brown leather, p-pad in brown, removing the sissy bar, and going to a fat tire upgrade). When its done, it should be in the 100+/100+ category

Wow some awesome looking bikes!

Streetstar, my mate that I ride with has a 1200 custom that looks a lot like yours.

Nice Rocker C, Mich, 'just 105hp with two wheels'

Grizzly the purple on your Sporty looks sick :D

RJohns, i am sure your Streetbob would get up and go with thise mods.

I just love this bike. Have already flipped the mirrors. Just got to install my side mount number plate, exhausts, blacked out derby and chain inspection cover and then ride the bloody thing! Still can't get the smile of my face when I ride it :D

Congratulations Chris! Your going to love that bike! The current Sportsters are a very refined product. Lots of eye candy on this thread! Mike, please send me or post a pic of your Street Bob after its upgrades! I would sure like to see that. I just put about 1k into my 09 Buell Cafe Racer with a Barker exhaust, race ECM and K&N filter that added at least 10+ hp, improved drivability and cooler running. My 09 Harley Street Bob is getting closer to a major engine overhaul and the 2001 ATK 605 dual sport is in the shop getting upgrades as I write this. Anyhow, Chris, you will love your Sporty and I for one would LOVE to hear about and see pics of your Australian adventures on it! Send us some travel pics Mate! 8) I mean it!

My 09 1125 CR as it sits now. It is very loud and runs and sounds like a Buell race bike!
Image

Just put another $300 into the Harley with a quick-detachable passenger seat and rear pegs and brackets so I could take my girlfriend on it (although she seemed to enjoy the Buell more???)

And the ATK after our first adventure single-tracking through mud puddles on BLM land.

The black out is growing on me. Dealer has a 1200R on the showroom floor that sizzles! Here is my 2007 White Gold XL1200C with no major mods except the Vance & Hines slip-ons (already removed them again and installed the legal Screamin'Eagles). I have been rained on so much this summer some of the family is kidding me about having the only watercooled HD.
