Improving Rubber Butt Pads

Post by getitdone1 »

I've had a little problem with rubber butt pads wanting to hang-up on my clothing when shouldering the gun. I know others have also had this problem. Believe I seen somewhere a product to stick onto this rubber--at the heel, at least--that would be slick and solve the problem.

Bet some of you have solved this problem. How?

I had that trouble. So I turned to my hunting buddies telling them I was having trouble mounting my gun.

Now I just don't................ talk about it anymore.

Try putting some Armor-All on the pad.

Some Pachmayr pads come with a hard rubber/plastic insert at the heel to avoid the hang up problem.

One thing that contributes to this is that people often have too long a stock for the clothes they wear when hunting.

I do not remember where I got it but on my Beretta Silverhawk SxS I had a leather covered pad installed. Looks great and a sparing coat of fresh wax keeps it from grabbing on clothing like the rubber does.
