Fast Becoming My Favorites

Post by Newtmaker »

The Rossi 92 on the bottom is my latest purchase. The Winchester was a gift that belonged to an uncle who was a RR man.
Both shoot well. Steve Jones' dvd helped a lot and she has a reasonable trigger now. Will probably tweak it some more as time goes by.

Very nice. Is the winny a RR comemorative?

What caliber is the Rossi? I've got a 44 mag and really like it. Shot a little boar with it earlier this year.

Yes, the Winchester is the Golden Spike Edition. I believe it was made in late 68 or early 69. It is a very low ser# of the series.
It had never been shot when it was given to me a little over a year ago. When I discovered that its value was diminished because of no box or papers I decided to go ahead and shoot it and use it. I am planning a hunting trip in Dec with my brother and nephew in the N. GA mountains and plan on taking both guns.
The Rossi is the 38/357 with 20" round barrel. I have only had it a month or less and have already got the Steve Jones dvd and done some trigger improvements. The action is actually quite smooth out of the box, not a single loading problem yet with several types of bullet designs in 38 and 357.
I did not like the finish on the wood so I have stripped the two pieces and restained and refinished. I think it looks a lot nicer than before. Or, maybe that's just me 8)

Wow, the wood on your Rossi came out great! I refinished the wood on two of mine but they don't look that nice.
