Marlin 336/30AS barrel band/end cap/forearm swap?
To change over the AS model to the latter, do I just add a barrel band and forearm or are the screw grooves in the barrel and magazines different? The reason I'm asking, I'd like to put the Ram-Line stock set on an AS rifle by adding a barrel band instead of the end cap on the forearm.

The barrel band sits farther back than the end cap. A file would be needed to cut a groove for the screw.

Yep. Looks like all you'd need is to cut a groove with a file, and it wouldn't have to be an ultra-precise job, as it is merely to provide 'clearance'.
Going the other way (band to cap) would require cutting a dovetail, and I've done it on a .22 LR Henry, but wouldn't enjoy the beefier metal you'd have to cut on a 336.

If you look at naked forearm wood, for both types, you will see that the cap-type forend wood, under the cap, is different/smaller than that of the bbl band forend wood (due to the inletting so the cap will slide on).
If you currently have a capped forend, the cap screw tenon would need to be removed from the barrel underside, a barrel band and bbl band type forend bought, then a cross groove filed half in the bbl bottom and half in the mag tube in the location in the new forend's forward tenon where the bbl band screw passes through.
It's possible, however, to reshape & refinish the cap-type forend wood into a somewhat shorter bbl band type forend, if you have the ability to do so.

Re: Marlin 336/30AS barrel band/end cap/forearm swap?
Or.....could I possibly inlet/carve the plastic Ram-Line forend to fit my end cap?
Re: Marlin 336/30AS barrel band/end cap/forearm swap?
Yep, jes go slo................ Like, dry-fitting the forend to the rifle first, to see how things line up, and/or how much whittling'll be needed.
Remember, the INSIDE of the plastic will also have to be inletted, to clear the cap screw tenon/hanger.
