Here is Troupe showing off his 10th birthday present, a new Howa 1500 scoped 7mm-08. It is a starter gun with a 20" barrel and kids stock. It also came with an adult sized stock for use when he finishes growing. He has three boxes of the Remington Reduced Recoil 140 grain ammo and we will take him to the 50 yard indoor range Tuesday to fine tune the scope adjustments, before planning an outing out to RKrodle's for some 100 yard practice. He has helped me load .45-90 ammo, so he asked if we can reload his 7mm-08. Maybe he will get a set of dies for Christmas.

I know that it is not a lever gun, but he chose a bolt action after shooting several types of rifles and shotguns.
First, he shot the Chipmunk .22 single shot and a single shot .410 shotgun. Then a Stevens .22/.410 O/U, then, we let him shoot a BB gun, pellet gun, and air pistol. He has also shot his mom's 20 ga SxS, his grandmother's .243, his uncles .223 and .308, my .357 lever action rifle and my Ruger M44 carbine, and my old Parker 20 SxS cut down to fit him. He really likes to shoot my M9422 WRM .22 lever action, so he will eventually shoot lever guns too. He likes them all, but wanted his first deer rifle to be a scoped bolt gun - naturally, none of our family scoped bolt rifles would work for him, so I had to go shopping!

Oh yes, he likes it a lot; and it handles like a carbine! It should be loads of fun to shoot.
