Do any of you guys know if Marlin ever made....

Post by mergus »

the Model 1894 rifle in .38 WCF? I have a hankering for a .38 WCF rifle and I was thinking that I'd like it to be a Marlin.

Thanks,

38WCF & 38-40 are one & the same. Marlin has made 38-40 rifles going
back to 1888.

Several yeras ago, I heard that Marlin did make (or reintroduced??) a limited run in .38WCF/.38-40 in the cowboy series. I don't know how true it is or if it was wishful thinking or another internet rumor.

Other than that you might look for an original, but I have a feeling from the prices that I've seen that good/nice Marlin 1894 or Winchester 1892 aren't going to be cheap. Better look at the asking price with only one eye, that way the asking price will look only as half as bad   ....
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I believer 38-40 was the only caliber Marlin did not chamber the special runs, of "modern" 1894's. You can find ,original "shooter" grade, 1894's around $500-$800 if you look and are patient.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
