Here are a couple of great reads about the .41 Long Colt along with some chrongraph results. I hope you all enjoy these as much as I did.

IIRC, there are two or three outstanding articles here at LeverGuns.Com by HarryO on his adventure getting an old .41 LC revolver back into action and the fun of reloading for it.

Here is my webpage on the 41LC. I am shooting the 41LC in Cowboy Action Shooting now. I am planning to update the article sometime soon.

Man! Ain't that somethin'! Have not heard from Harry O in about 3 years and he just pops up like that.Harry O wrote:Here is my webpage on the 41LC. I am shooting the 41LC in Cowboy Action Shooting now. I am planning to update the article sometime soon.

Personally, for me, the 41 LC is a pain to load for. Messin' with that hollow cavity mould one at a time got old real fast. I dumped that old Lightning and the black powder that was needed to expand the cavity. Good riddance-----------------Sixgun

Re: OT- Sort of: .41 Long Colt
I check in here once or twice a week. I use lever actions. In fact my very first gun was a Marlin 39A. It is just I don't have much to add to what is posted here about them. If I don't have something new or different to add, I don't post.
PS. I just bought a new Uberti/Cimarron Model P Jr in 41 Long Colt (and yes, it is LONG Colt -- before it there was a 41 Colt, which was shorter). I tested it today after the CAS shoot -- and yes, I use two Uberti full size P frame SAA clones that have been converted to 41LC. I use a Uberti 1873 Winchester clone in 38-40 for the rifle. Naturally, I use black powder.
Anyway, the P Model Jr looks like it will work out well. It is very close to the size of the original Thunderer. The sights will have to be adjusted (which can be a job with fixed sights). The chambers will have to be polished. It needs an action job. The mainspring is suitable for a truck suspension. Nothing that cannot be fixed. It should be good when I get done.
I know what you are saying about casting for it. I have approx 1,200 of the hollow-base bullets cast up. Took about 10-12 hours over three days. It should last me a full year. Maybe a little bit more.

Great info. I had to link to Harry's page on my blog (under "Enthusiasts").
