I want to scope my marlin 30/30 and I want to mount it as low as possible. (maybe a business cards width between scope and barrel) The front and rear sights have been removed and filled along with an original flat hammer offset spur. I have purchased a Leupold M8 4X 28mm (enroute from gunbroker) and I am leaning towards the Tally lightweight 2 pc extra low that is .410 from the receiver to the bottom of the ring opening.
Does any one know with this setup how far the scope would be from the barrel? Are there any other bases/mounts that could get me where I need to be? I really don't care for the looks of the weaver type mounts.

I am using Warne (low) mounts on mine with a similar scope.

It should work ok.
I can shoot it without the hammer spur. I just put one on because of having gloves on where I hunt in the late season.

A Leupold M8 4X? Aren't the M8 series scopes the long eye relief models intended for handguns?

There is an M8 4X pistol scope EER model, but the one I purchased is a riflescope with 4.5 " of eye relief. Thanks for the pics and advice.
