OT- P.38

Post by 2ndovc »

Been stuck in the no "gun fund blues" so
i've been pulling out some of my older shooters.

This old Walther(ac 44) was given to me by a long time friend of my Father's and the
Luger holster was brought back by my Aunt's father along with another holster and two Lugers.
The Lugers were stolen but the holsters were left behind.
My Uncle gave me the holster to keep with the Walther though it really isn't the "correct" one.

Along with the WaA29 1940 it is also scribed T/S Anderson Hankovosky
Wish they sould talk....

Considering the source, you may not want to hear what they would say. I have a matching serial number G.98 from WWI, and sometimes when I sight down the barrel, I wonder if any unfortunate Tommys or Doughboys were ever taken down with it. Sobering thoughts.

So, who was T/S (Tech Sgt???) Andrew Hankovsky. Was that the guy that brought it back to the States???

Thats a beauty sir, have long had a soft spot for the P.38, in fact have a P38 coming into Australia in the next few days, genuine AC43 production all matching with holster and two mags. As you know AC was the code for Walther factory.
Be interested to know what your best loads for your example is, bullet weight/powder.

And I thought this thread was 'bout the old c-ration can opener --effectionately called the P-38. Icarried my last one home from Vietnam with me in 1967 -- marked "US" and made by Speaker. Still on my key ring and a number of people have no idea what it is and -- yes -- it still works!
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....
