Exploded View - Savage 99 A Queston

I notice in comparing exploded views between the Savage 99 A and other 99s that both have what appears to be identical lower tangs...Is then the only major difference between the two the configuration of the levers and stocks? The only exploded views I've found so far however, are the ones of the tang safety models...Do the older models with straight levers have different lower tangs than the ones that have the curved lever, but the newer ones have the same lower tang?.. Could a fella make a conversion from curved to straight or vice versa just by changing out/fitting a new lever & stock?

I'm no expert, but AFAIK, the top of the Savage 99 lever controls the locking of the bolt into battery, in addition to it's other functions - and may need to be especially fitted to a particular rifle.
