Doesn't exactly look like Clint Eastwood standing there.

I think in terms of your signature line, this WAS the day for one of them.

Funny you should say that. My first thought was "Doesn't look very galmorous". Much of real life isn't as glamorous as it may seem from outside.

Like living without running water.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

don't think I've ever seen a glamorous photo of the aftermath of a firefight - there's a reason for that.

I can read what the writing on the picture says, but it looks to me like he got drug by his horse rather than shot. He's really tore up and disheveled not just bloodied from bullet holes.

My caption for that would be: "Hey Paco, which way to Albequerque?"

Or maybe:

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

It says after gun fight in N.M. It may have been a few days earlier though than the photo was taken.

Yeah, looks like that old boy has been baking in the sun for a while before that was taken. Maybe he was face down in the dirt for sometime and the darkness in his face is levitity, or he was drug around in some way. Either way, looks like he met a hard end.

I would say it appears he got center punched just about even with the right shoulder, most of them ole boys would rather use the winchester, reminds me of photos the old man had for awhile of western Kansas.

the fella taking a dirt nap doesn't appear to be going anywhere, but
what caught my eye was the apple horn mex saddles and the rest of
the outfit the two life like boys had. that and the country looks awful
desolate, makes me thirsty just looking at it.
careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Pokey, I don't hear "dirt nap" anywhere else, but within LE circles. Death isn't glamorous no matter how you cut it.

The stiff looks kinda flat to me.

If he didn't get stomped on pretty good, I'd say he's been laying there long enough to dry out some.

pokey, I noticed the saddles and bridle rigging right off.Don't reckon they need a coronor to pronounce him deceased.

That's what I see. It looks like there's a covering over the face and head. Might be there for a good reason...

The terrain does sort of look like Southwest Kansas where I grew up. By the time I was born, there weren't too many folks riding horses except on the ranches and working in the feedlots.

Looks to me like he has been sunbaking for a while, the two ole boys seem to be looking more out of curiosity then concern to me, I reckon what's written on the picture is probably pretty close to the truth, country looks like it could be New Mexico and the fact the boys are riding mexican rigs looks like down round the border somewhere, maybe they have been doing a bit of midnight shopping south of the border.

This picture was just shown on the History Channel program called "Sharp Shooters." The picture was not discussed at all, but it was much clearer on screen. The fella on the ground has his head looking back to the left. You can clearly see his ear. There is nothing to indicate anything but someone who was center-punched and DRT. No reason to think it didn't happen just a little before photo. The fella did appear to have a dark complexion which compounded the resolution of the old B&W.
