Joel you have a bunch of post for a couple short months mostly in the politic section.....so....I have a Winchester 1894 30 WCF that was made in the late '40s....belonged to my dad. Love to shoot it but my old eyes are getting kinda fuzzy....my question is what Leverguns do you own, shoot or covet ?? Gotta a bad memory so you made have already spoken about this topic....just wondering ??

Can't help but feel like my pedigree (street cred) is in question here.

Jumbeaux, if you haven't searched already, I have a few levers, nothing fancy but i like them. Rossi Puma .44 mag, Winchester Model 88 in .308 (four digit serial #)and .243 (5 digit serial) .444 marlin, win 94 30-30. I don't know nearly as much as most of you guys, so I can't offer much advice. I was tickled to be able to chime in on a guy who has same Puma problem as me. Mostly in the General Discussion forum I can only quietly read and learn, ask advice for which is all very good here. I sent another levergunner a magazine from a gun I no longer have, in an effort to give back a little for what Leverguns has done for me. Ive slicked up my Rossi, refinished a few rifle stocks, have a nice remington project going, all done with what ive learned here.

As for the amount of posts, well I have too much free time and too much emotion right now. I have some medical issues that are chewing my insides up, not much I can do about it but bugging you guys in the politics forum sure makes me feel better in between frequent trips to the bathroom.

Even though I LOVE leverguns, just think how BORING this site would be if nobody stirred the pot up some now and again...

Besides, anyone who chooses a .44 Mag and .444 Marlin for two of their leverguns can't be all bad...



Good luck with your health issues. If your doctor doesn't communicate, take a woman with you to your appoinments - they'll show up sometimes with a pad of paper taking notes!

Funny you mention getting a woman involved, My woman declared all out war on my health issues. She has me logging every bite and sip, everything coming out too. She interrogates me daily, won't let me spare any details. Jams pills and shakes down my throat every chance she gets. Dang woman.

There's two kinds of wives when it comes to that sort of thing...

• a. The kind of wife that just nags and nags about every pill you're supposed to take, makes you eat the right stuff, do this, do that, get checked, go to doctor, etc...
  b. The kind that politely ignores the self-destructive things you do, meds you forget to take, etc., and quietly buys lots of life insurance on you...

Oh yeah, there's one more kind - like mine - they pin their hopes on the life insurance, but just can't resist the temptation to do some nagging anyway...

Kinda like Indians, you worry most when they get quiet...

As a kid the first scope I got to use was a Weaver K12 that I learned to shoot with from a standing and unsupported position, and since then I've always liked 4-16 or 5-20 scopes for all around use. If I need 'light gathering' I'll do a 50mm in a 4x or 3-9x though, and if I don't want the bulk of a scope I'm liable to use peep sights anyway. That particular scope has a 'range' knob for elevation, with several inserts for various trajectories. At this point that's the only gun I have where I might shoot it far enough away to use that feature, although I've thought about putting it on a .22 LR and using it for out to 200 yards with that, if I can find one of the inserts that matches the trajectory. The distances around here are just too short to use such a feature other than on a 'rainbow' trajectory gun like the .444 Marlin.

How do you like your .444? I always thought I needed one. Having a .45-70 leveraction kind of negates the "need" part, but I still think I'd jump at one if I found a good deal. The round just always intrigued me...

I am OK Kid, my deal aint going to go away any time soon, so I just learn how to live with it. More of inconvenience really.

The .444 is an oddity in my opinion. I like it because its mine, wouldn't exactly recommend one to anybody. Heck of a kick for what it won't do. Was gift, or I would have sold it to pay med bills like I have all my other guns that weren't gifted or inherited. Ive sold most all my toys, tools fishing gear. Its the way it goes. I am proud to say I am 100% debt free, never took a cent from anyone. Don't have much in the bank, but my memory is full of good times.
