grip safety quit working

Post by sven556 »

I took my win 94 completely apart and cleaned it. Now after I put it all back together the grip safety only works about half the time! Have any of you had this happen before? Any ideas?

I was planning to go to the range today but that may have to wait :(

You may have caught one of the spring tabs on something. Does it move up and down easily, or is it sticking? What vintage gun is it?

it was made in 1949. Everything functioned correctly before I took it apart so the pieces should be okay. I think you're right and most likely something is binding.

I just looked at it again and it seems to move freely and feels like there is good spring pressure. When the lever is closed it seems to be putting enough pressure on the safety the it depresses it slightly. Not sure what could cause this to happen. Ideas?

I might end up taking it apart again and putting it back together to see if that corrects it. That will have to wait for a few days though.
