Younger Daughter's First Levergunning Jaunt

Post by Haycock »

Subject line and expression on her face say it all...

This kid really took to it! She's 8 years old and has only been shooting since Christmas, when I gave her a Crickett. Today I offered to let her feel the kick of the .357 Marlin and hear the blast up close... she leaned on my back, put her head next to mine, lay her arm on mine, etc. After I squeezed a couple off she wanted to try it herself. I'll be darned if she didn't go through about half a box! Halfway through her second magazine I noticed a flinch starting and walked her through breathing and squeezing, and voila! Cleared right up and she ended up the day working that lever with gusto... really getting into it!

Doesn't get any better than that.

Awesome! I showed it to my boys and the oldest one said "Dad, is she married"? He's four!

Pretty cool.

She should be sure to learn how to 'present' herself to knee-jerk liberals and anti-gun people (like many of her teachers are likely to be), by being first a charming and intelligent young woman, then once she's formed a positive impression, casually let them know her favorite thing to do is shoot a .357 Magnum RIFLE. Maybe she can invite them to come to your place so you can teach THEM about guns, too.

Congratulations! If you can get her interested in competitive shooting she may forget about boys until her mind returns.

Simply awesome! That's the face of hope for our future there.

Great point... that's how my older daughter (now almost 17) handled it... although she has pretty much let go of shooting with me by now... ahh, well... I'll pick up where I left off with her kids, when she has some in about 10 years (say I hopefully).....
