Uberti Winchester 1892 Replicas

Post by jd45 »

Does anyone here know if they offer one? A shootin buddy of mine says so but last time I checked their website, I didn't see one. Now they do have an 1883 Burgess replica that looks sorta, kinda like the 1892 Winchester, but it's not. I'll appreciate any feedback, Thanx, jd45

Uberti does not make a Model 1892 replica, but Chiappa Firearms does. Chiappa is from Italy also.

I'd be very wary given their history with the '76's.

For anyone interested, I just typed "chiappa replica firearms" in the Google Box & the second thing that was on the page was an 1892 Win Replica Take-down. Chiappa is somehow connected with Armi-Sport, I gather. Anyway....thanx for the help. jd45

jd45, I stand corrected. I tried your way and found it. No prices though.

Chiappa (Armi Sport) is sold through Cimarron, Legacy Sports (LSI as their new "Puma") and Taylor's. All three sites have detailed information including pricing. Do a search on this site and you'll find a lot of discussion on the Chiappa 92s, some good some bad, the latter including a recent (many months) frustration by one member with Taylor's and Chiappa--to mixed (and yet to be fully finaized I gather) results, both re customer service and technical. Others have had better experiences.

It does appear to be a beautifully finished firearm--with close attention (at least cosmetically) to period-correctness and, hopefully, our very own Steve Young (Nate Kiowa Jones) is having some influence on improving product--as they have asked (or he has volunteered and they accepted?) for his look-see on their new '86, wanting to get that "right" out the door. There were a few small parts NKJ had reservations about early on with the 92 (1892). Maybe his observations have already had an impact by now on new production? To date, of these three primary importers, only Cimarron and LSI are offering .44 Mag.

Later edit. Let me make it easier. www.cimarron-firearms.com www.legacysports.com. www.taylorsfirearms.com . Of these Taylors is the skimpiest of description and pictures (no carbine pics for instance). Oddly, the "trapper" version sold by Cimarron and maybe others is a "short-short rifle" (my terms) - 16", but heavy octagonal, vs the traditional round barrel short-carbine configuration. A bit odd to me but I bet some like. In addition to that and the regular carbine, rifle and takedown variants, Cimarron has a John Wayne- inspired large loop lever "El Dorado" and LSI a pricey Rifleman-commemorative.

Chaparal made the 76s of questionable quality. Chiappa and Chaparal are not the same folks. Might not the change the outcome, but not the same company.

What about Rossi? They make a replica of the 92 and Mr Young will tune them slick as a whistle. :D

The fireams currently available from Uberti are listed here: http://www.uberti.com/

They do not make a Model 92 replica.

I did not overlook it. The whole point of my asking was merely to get a clarification as to whether they do or don't for mr shootin buddy, who seems to think they do. Rodeo Kid thinks I'm looking for one....I'm not. I have two, including a Rossi. jd45

grace is a really nice thing on the internet.
assumption is usually a mistake.
applying grace to someone else's assumption is always a win.
Not applying grace to someone else's assumption is usually another mistake wanting to cascade.
This is never a conversation. Nontheless, third mistake is posting something one would never say to another person's face.

it's nothing personal. I did my best to answer your question.
My point is its best not to take people to task, whenever it can be avoided.
On every bulletin board I've ever read, people like to ramble a bit, may not read what others wrote and may think they're being helpful when the information they added may not be what was sought.
I've run across people before who have wanted the perfect thread and when two others were discussing something else on their thread, blew up at them and made enemies, even to the point of sending foul pms.
I don't believe you did that.
Me, most of it don't skin my teeth. And I'm probably the worst about rambling. I don't talk much, but I do like to write, take pictures and stick them on the board. I got a lot of fish stories from a lifetime of fishing. Bottom line, there are too many things in life that do matter to worry about the internet.

I really do wish Uberti would get in the '92 game but even better would be some Winchesters that are made in the U.S.A. and not $1000+
