BRNO EFFECT SINGLE SHOT

Post by Lawyer Daggit »

This gun is not yet available in Australia. Is available in the US yet? (there is a reference to it in Gun Digest 2010 I note).
What is it like?

No personal experience.

There's a review here: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/featured ... ct_200910/

And some discussion here: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthread ... /3573017/1

It appears to be only available in .308 Win and .30-06 in the US, however, it comes in 243 Win, .308 Win, .30-06, 6,5x57 R, 7x65R and 8x57 JRS in Europe.

Olin/Winchester Australia is the Australian CZ distributor. It may be worthwhile contacting them to see if they plan to bring them in http://www.olin.com.au/brands/cz.aspx

Nice looking single shot - I think they are very light weight also. I'm surprised 6.5x55 isn't on the list...

Basically an upscale break-action. A fancy NEF ;)

It seems to be up market of the NEF and spartan 18 but down market the Merkel, Krieghoff, Blaser, placing it in the same territory as the TC Encore.

I saw a catalog yesterday, published by CZ-USA, that puts them nearer to $2,000 US, with about an extra $100 for a full stock. That's list price. No idea what they actually would sell for.

I was interested up to that point. Even if the street price is half the MSRP, it's too rich for me.

I'll just have to imagine this in 7x57 or .257 Roberts. *sigh...*

I will keep a eye out for them up here I remember in the 80s you could not buy a BRNO in the U.S or at least they were hard to get so I was told?I met a guy from Texas buying CZ75s at the gun show now things have changed and I doubt it would make sence to cross border shop for guns dam Goverment rules.
Nice looking Rifle but at that price I would want a Falling block not a Break barrel. I just like the way the action talks to me on a Falling block.
As my name say's I love BRNO's I have three, all bolts a 7x64 a 8x68 and a 375H&H :D

BRNO 602's- especially the earlier ones with the pop up peep sight are an excellent piece of kit.
Must say I like the German break open stalking rifles. The Contender Carbine goes some way to capturing the feel but sadly does not quite make it.

That is what the TCR was intended to be.

One of the problems with European made stuff is the dollar to Euro exchange rate.

Hobie, depends where in the world you are. 'Down under' in Australia, sadly Eastern European guns are a lot cheaper than American guns courtesy of exchange rates.

Well, it sure looks a LOT like my Savage 219 in 30/30  But that doesn't come in 6.5x55 either.

It is still the same here but the supply is drying up. You can sill get the Baikal 45/70 double. And you can still buy a Chinese sks for around $175.00 but dam they are ugly.

Chinese SKS's are a no-no down here unless you are a primary producer with a sizeable feral problem, then the rules make it hardly worth the effort.

I contacted the Australian CZ agent (Winchester) I do not think we will be getting he Effect down under.

I wish importers would start bringing us what we want instead of what they think we want...

Wow....yeah they lost me right there. Think I'll stick with the original plan for a good ol' Made-In-the-US-of-A Ruger #1 in 7x57 or 30-06.

A mate of mine had Ruger make up 5 rifles in .350 Rem Mag.

I wonder if CZ would do a run of 7x57 if someone were to show interest and arrange them?.
