Swift Riflescopes

Does anybody use Swift scopes? I have a monocular from Swift and it is fine.

But I don't know about scopes. For example, optics might be good but durability lacking.

I read a little on the web, seems like good overall reports.

My wife had a problem with her swift riflescope. The rectical rotated in the tube. Made for a couple misses in the field before it was noticed by her. I replaced the scope with another(brand) I had on hand.

When we mentioned it to the dealer where we'd purchased it and he insisted we bring it back to him. He asked for $5 to repay his postage(IMHO if we'd balked, he'd have waived that policy) and replaced it NIB in the store. Others have mentioned problems with the scopes but almost universally have stated they were very satisfied with the quality of warranty service. The store insisted that overall they've had fewer returns with swift than any other brand, including leopold.

My friend had one of their pistol scopes on his Super Blackhawk Hunter. It failed pretty quickly. There were pieces of black stuff floating around inside the tube.

Can't say about their scopes, but I have used their compact binoculars and was not impressed.

I sent a Swift scope back about 3 years ago and still haven't got it back.

Thanks guys, I wasn't considering Swift because of the price, one model looked like a good fit to me. But if they don't hold up, I'll go for the Weaver.

I also read some reviews about Pentax not holding up, too bad, that company has good optics and they have some nice scope models as well.

I bought a Swift 3X9 about 10 years ago from a local gunshop. They were selling this one for about $40-50 witha lifetime "over-the-counter" guarantee. I figured I couldn't go wrong. That scope has been on a 6.5X55, a .30-06, a muzzleloader and a .22 rifle. So far it has held up just fine.

I have a staight tube 1-4x on my .444 BB. Not that many rounds through it yet, but so far it's held it's zero perfectly. I guess we'll see.

I have one on a Weatherby Vangurad .270. It's been sitting on top for about four years now and so far it's clear, bright and holding up just fine.

I'd find that VERY hard to believe. The Pentax scopes are actually made by Burris in Colorado. In return, Pentax scratches Burris's back in the binocular arena. At least, that's how it was before Beretta bought Burris.

I'm glad to hear Pentax makes a fine product, but two guys had problems with the scope I was interested in.

It's not easy to make a decision when you don't have experience with it youself, so I appreciate all the input.

I suppose any company is going to have the occasional lemon.

As for the Midway reviews, it looks like two other guys had great results with theirs. So, the question is, which do you take to the bank, the good or the bad???
