Interesting.
A warden of our family's acquaintance once said that his job was the only law enforcement job he knew of where it was an absolute certainty that every person he approached was armed and yet he was almost always by himself.

That site is addictive as hell.
They just headed back because it's too dark to see. I guess they go out again at 7:30 Pacific time tonight.
Reminds me of the few days I spent in the Masai Mara in 2006.

There's another site or two that also provides live feed from a waterhole (e.g., http://www.africam.com/player/lc_player.php?sh=nk-1). I posted it a couple of years ago here and spent months with it up on my screen in a separate window as I worked. It is addicting, and saw some very interesting things and animal behavior.

Re: You gotta see this.
I was watching at 7pm MST and saw bats flying low over the water every couple of minutes. They looked like long wavy streaks. Some of the smaller streaks were likely insects.
I've sat at waterholes in Africa for several nights. A black rhino sprayed urine behind himself (like a cat marking) and it looked like someone using a small firehose when backlit by the lights at the waterhole.
Once I stayed up all night at a waterhole Etosha N.P. in Namibia because I knew there was an old, starving lioness laid up in the brush and I expected her to go after something. I finally gave up a short time before sunrise and went and crawled into my tent for some sleep. About a half hour later some kids came shrieking back into camp saying that the lioness had tried to take down a zebra. Apparently she made contact with the zebra, but was unsuccessful in bringing it down.
At a waterhole in Kenya we missed seeing 3 male lions which attacked a bull cape buffalo . People who had been present during this encounter told us it took them about 45 minutes to finally get him off his feet and under control. This was at a fancy lodge where my wife and I had gone to have a drink; we were camping out in the Masai Mara in our little backpacker tent. I was amazed at the blase attitude of many of the tourists there. They were more interested in the state of their dinner than they were in the wildlife spectacle around the waterhole. Guess it takes all kinds.

Yep Masai Mara is a great place to go on safari..especially during the Wildebeest migration...these 9 fascinating facts about the migration http://maragates.com/masai-mara-wildebeest-migration shows how weirdly (in a nice way) and highly organanized this natural phenomenon iswilliamranks wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2010 12:44 pm That site is addictive as hell.
