OT Cheap gun show find.
Picked this old Nagant revolver up this morning at a nearby show for $45.00
My Dad collects the Russian stuff and this one caught my eye. First one I've seen
Dated 1931.
It was so dirty and corroded that the seller only had a $50 tag on it.
The bore was so bad I couldn't see any anything even with a light.
But these little guys are built like T-34s so I offered $45 and took a chance.
Some heavy scrubbing with Hoppe's and nylon brushes ended up with a
decent and perfectly functional revolver.
Should make a great B-day present for the Old Man!

Great find and deal. I know absolutely zero on these sidearms, what caliber would that be in?

Re: OT Cheap gun show find.
It's a real oddball round. 7.62x 38 Rimmed.
About the size of a 32-20 case with the bullet seated fully below the case mouth then a
heavy "crimp" The case actually seats inside the throat when the cyl. moves forward and
creates a seal.
I'll have to get a photo of the ammo. Pretty neat stuff.

Nice find,.... I call these neglected pieces , "dirty pearls"!
Once cleaned up they are a joy to behold,... silly how so many pass them by!

I'm glad you knew what that was. I wouldn't have had a clue, other than it was Russian.
Always makes me wonder what kind or "pearls" I have missed over the years. I would have thought that ammo was defective until now.
Thanks for sharing, Jason.

It's pretty weird stuff but can be made from 32-20 cases, .30 carbine weight bullets and a really expensive set of dies.vancelw wrote:I'm glad you knew what that was. I wouldn't have had a clue, other than it was Russian.

Fortunately Fiocchi makes ammo still and some surplus is still out there.

Nice find. I'd say that big star on the side is worth $45.
I think I remember reading somewhere that that is the only revolver that can be fitted with a suppressor and have it work.

The big star on the side is the mark of the Tula arsenal where this revolver was manufactured.
