303 Savage Ammo
Good morning gentlemen,
I won an auction for an old Savage 99 in 303 Savage. Any advive on procuring some ammo would be appreciated. I know Gad Custom has ammo and will eventually begin reloading.
Thanks

303 Savage
I load ammo for a friend that has a 303.I would say loading your own is best for this gun.Brass is available and being 30 caliber bullets of all kinds are easy to find.Load data is a little scarce but there is some out there.

Thank you. Yes have read that both 30-30 and 30-40 brass can be formed into 303 Savage rounds. I am going to hold off buying reloading gear until I am satisfied with the gun enough to make the investment. I have only seen a few pictures to date. Rusty if you find your ammo send me an email at james4570@att.net and we'll see what makes sense. Thanks again
The base diameter of .303 Sav brass is between the .30-30 and the .30-40, and I'm pretty sure neither will work as a substitute. Graf's had a run of .303 brass made recently with their headstamp, but they list them as sold out for now. They still list the Bertram brass, but that is (from what I've read) not the most reliable source for good brass. Buffalo Arms lists some sort of reformed brass, but it's not cheap.
I hope Graf's can get another run made soon. I'd read their brass was good stuff, and I've been thinking about getting an old 99.
