Ruger Vaquero in 44-40--- Repaired

Post by Boreman »

I bought the Vaquero about 21/2 months ago to add to my Ruger collection and try my hand at SAS.
I was very dissapointed when I shot it.It would not group.Period.
By hook or crook I found out that Ruger put out some early Vaquero's with 44Mag barrels with cylinders with under sized throats.I slugged the bbl at.4295 and the throats were measured at .425. I called Ruger and explained the problem. Their only comment was send the revolver in and the would check it out.I got my Vaquero back 2 weeks ago. Repaired with a new cylinder with .4295 throats ,test fired and checked out.
NO CHARGE. Thanks ,Ruger

Do you have a contact person? I have an early one and my son bought one, too (so I could reload for him). Throats were undersized and the barrel was oversized. I sent mine in twice, but his was just as bad. The first time they replaced the cylinder with a different one that was the exact same size as the one they removed. The second time they sent it back with a snotty letter that if I wanted custom dimensions, I should go to a custom gunsmith. I haven't shot it in 15 years or so. Spoiled me on the 44-40 and Rugers.
