Prayer Request.

Post by Buck Elliott »

well, it's my turn to ask your help, my friends...

A very special lady in my life is in need of all the help we can gather for her. Her name is Kathe, amd she's 57 years old. Right now, she's fighting for her life in a Utah hospital, after surgery. She was scheduled for a procedure on Friday, to repair some problems resulting from some horrific injuries suffered several years ago. Scar tissue had built up in the old wounds, threatening to strangle blood flow in both the carotid artery and the jugular vein.
She was being prepped for the procedure -- a very risky one in itself -- on Thursday afternoon. A technician was assigned to do an endoscopy, so they could see how much scar tissue had invaded the trachea and the esophagus. Kat told the tech that there was not enough 'room' in her throat for the instrument she was about to use. The tech insisted, and forced the probe thru the constricted passage, tearing up everything in its path. Kat immediately began hemmorhaging, so they rushed her into the OR and began the fight to save her life. The operation lasted 12 hours; the artery and vein involved were penetrated again, because of the nature of the operating conditions, but they are quite certain they have the problem (s) solved. She lost an awful lot of blood and it's only a miracle that she survived so far. She is in a drug-induced coma, and strapped to her bed to prevent ANY movement, to give the incisions and sutures time to heal.

If you could take time to remember this precious lady in your prayers, it would be greatly appreciated by all involved.

Bless you all for your faith & kindnesses to those of us in need,

Buck

Buck,

My wife is a nurse who took care of a man with basically the same problem years ago. You have every right to be concerned. Prayers are needed and have been sent on her behalf... and yours.

You and all connected to Kat are more then welcome for a pray of healing and also of comfort. May the good lord see fit to heal her and also to ease the tensions of the tech who wouldn't listen. May you all have many many more years together and much laughter over this bump that entered your lives.
May you all feel the benefits of pray and the healing powers of the almighty.Sleep well and peacefully my friend.

Thank you ALL so very much for your outpouring of faith and help. Kathe remains in the ICU, still in the coma, and will not be brought out of it for another 7 to 10 days, at least. When she wakes, she will not be allowed to make any vocal sounds for another 2 to 3 weeks, to give her vocal chords ( which were necessarily cut) time to heal completely.

Such a tragedy for her -- nearly as bad as the one that put her in this condition in the first place. She still has a long way to go to recovery. Your prayers are still needed, and much appreciated. One could not ask for better friends than those on this board.

I hope the tech can find other, more-suitable employment. Maybe Tysons' or Armour are looking for help... (probably shouldn't go there , but...)

God Bless you all for your faith.
Regards

Buck

What you have to keep in mind is that the tech most likely will be transferred to the morgue as there it is kind of hard to screw up but then again memory does remind that it is possible even there to screw up.
So maybe the tech would be better of as an IRS agent, more their kind of way of working anyway.
We will keep you and kate and all in our prayers and yes you do deserve our prayers. No human being should stand alone in time of need.

Thanks again to all who answered the call. We appreciate it more than I can convey here.

Kat continues to sleep -- blissfully UNaware of her surroundings. A note from her BIL who was at the hospital today says she sometimes just smiles, and wrinkles up her nose. Her neck and chin are swathed in bandages, where a trach tube pokes through and a ventilator takes over the chore of breathing, for now. Dr. says all that should only be temporary. Can only hope he's right. Maybe another week -- maybe longer. It's in God's hands now.

Thanks again, my good friends, for all your thoughts & prayers.
