what do you think?

Post by mescalero1 »

The oldest female dog keeps barking at something out back, she is not prone to be an alarmist.
The pup keeps running in and out of the computer room, obviously agitated.
When I look with the 2 million candlepower flashlight, I can not see anything.
The bent of my nature is to believe the dogs.

I hate to say this as a christian, and I just got a chill come over me. Can it have something to do with what you are making and the "old people" , you know what I mean. I went to church on a res when I was a teen. To many stories, had to have something to them. Watch your self.

Install a sensor light or two tomorrow and wait for them to turn on, maybe a game camera too. I'd bet that the pup is mainly agitated because the big dog is. I think staying loaded , and keeping it handy, make sense too.

Jerry,
No need to worry, I am protected by a powerful medicine woman.
I think the pup is reacting to his " teacher "
Saw a big old dog " doing the dance in the meadow " the other day, Danny; you are probably right.

A motion detecting OR remote-switched light that is AWAY from your house also is handy; it lights 'out there' better than home-mounted floodlights.

I agree about the coyote-type things, though; ours verbally fight with coyotes less than 100 yards away most of the night.

I think we best leave it alone and pray it goes away. I'll check on you in the morning.

Demon? I was wondering where you got that picture of my old boss...

But seriously, here's another vote for a game camera. Be careful.

In addition to coyotes and wolves breeding season, there's always rabbits, skunks, coons, and a entire host of sounds that we can't hear but the dogs can.
Welcome to country living, no need to get to wound up unless the dogs hackles start standing up and the barking gets a protective/danger tone.

Blaine,
If I was prone to suggestion, that picture could have been profoundly disturbing, it could have sent a less stable person over the edge.

8) Spirits?,... someone say SPIRITS? 8)

No need to worry guy, probably just wanted to thank you for your efforts on the coffin.

If you really want to something to be more aware of your perimeter,... I forget if it was Cheaper than Dirt, or, Sportsman Guide ,.... but one of those had some very nice perimeter go-bangs! they are a little firecracker that has a string coming out of each end that you tie to a perimeter trip wire. They were very cheap as well.

I am not worried, just unusual for her to act that way,
I think it was like Danny said, a couple of amorous song dogs.

Recently my dogs went crazy, I went out with flashlight and .45 Auto. Turned out to be a juvenile Opossum. I found a broom handle and gently encouraged him/her to find a better place to be. One of my dogs was a stray for about 2 years and she will kill and eat any small animal that makes the mistake of getting into the yard. Humans will be slobbered all over. She is the friendliest dog to humans that I have ever seen. Coyotes have been in my yard in the past, and she hates them. The big dog has killed 1 coyote so far. They don't growl at coyotes, just bark. The big dog will bark at humans, and I think she would attack if I didn't keep her penned.

Hmmm. I wonder if'n them Boogers and Haints would show up on infrared. I like the trail camera suggestion but I must admit that idea of using party poppers on a trip wire amusing and the fun factor even better. Then you can identify the culprit by the scat pile.

I have two dogs, one is an 10 year old Lab and the other is a Pit Bull puppy. The pup barks at everything under the son. The lab barks maybe once a month, when she barks I pay attention.

Thor perks up at any outside or strange inside sound. When his fur comes up on his neck I grab the 1911. We're right across the HWY from the wooded part of Ft Lewis and there are both kinds of cat, coyotes, and bear over there, to say nothing of the denizens that are up and down Mountain Highway at all hours. At least I'm off the Hwy a quarter mile or so.....
