This one is from original owner, upgraded stock with oil finish and checkering, 90% or better, shoots 2 1/2" 3 shot groups at 100 yds with factory installed peep sight.

Very nice! I drooled over one of those in 35 Rem about a year ago, reasonably priced too but I didn't want another/new cartridge. What is the circular item on the stock, forward of the butt plate?

Nice rifle, I really like that caliber too. I was reloading a couple hundred last night for my model 99(but we all know it is for target work only cause you could never actually kill a deer with it). Tom

Years ago a guy named Ralph Edwards lived in the wilds of British Columbia amongst lots of grizzlies. He killed a lot of them with the Model 8 chambered for 35 Remington. He had a bull with an ugly temperment that got him down and bruised him up quite a bit. Bull left and busy with Ralph's pack and Ralph got to his model 8 and killed him real quick.

getitdone1, from what I read in the gun magazines it must have just been a lucky shot. Everyone knows that you need some sort of newfangled super magnum to reliably kill animals nowadays. I am afraid that the .30-30 won't even be powerful enough for cottontail rabbits in a couple of years.

Joe, that is a nice rifle. Are you going to try it on a pig in February? I bet it would be fun to hunt with.

I was thinking about my double rifle for the hog hunt, although it would be a perfect set-up for this ol' Remmy.

Bring it along at least(the 81). I'd love to shoot it!
