Check out this ballistics website, the results are interesting. I've got to find a way to get paid to do this, or something similar.

Yeah. It's worth posting again. There was a thread on this about a year ago. But there may be many who didn't see it. Interesting results.

Interesting data but I disagree with a lot of it. For instance, the hexogonal rifling in my 3" barrel .40 cal Kahr produces the same exact velocity as the 4" Springfield XD and the 5" Para Ord with the same exact load, all conditions equal. I have a 20" barrel 45 Colt that produces 175 FPS more velocity that the 24" barrel rifle that Ricky had with everything being equal. The difference was the chambers. The data is a large portion of the story, but not the whole story.
