I'm a True Grit afficinado. I can recite the dialogs.
Heard they're casting for a sequel.

Well you better get your lines right and be ready - I read somewhere recently that a remake of True Grit is being planned in the near future.

Me too, heard that too. I wanna see it when they are done. However it will have to be twice as good to equal the J.W. classic.2571 wrote:I'm a True Grit afficinado. I can recite the dialogs.

Somebody, maybe here, mentioned that a shirt sleeve cousin or relation was auditioning for the part of Mattie Ross. Maybe they'll post here and give us an update.

They're having auditions in Tulsa on Sunday if anybody is interested. It's going to be done by the Coen brothers, so most folks will probably love it or hate it.

yeah, Tom Selleck is too young, and Robert Duval is too short.arjunky wrote:Who do they think can play Rooster?

I really can't think of any other living actors who might pull off reprising a John Wayne role.

Clint Eastwood would be old enough and knows how to play the tough guy rolls, but I tend to think it probably wont matter who you use, we are all going to compare him to John Wayne and he isn't going to measure up.
Tom Selleck's too young? Have you been watching reruns of Magnum P.I, or smokin' something illegal

It's a rat writ, writ for a rat......
Who will play Rooster's "father" Chen Lee?
Will General Sterling Price have a cameo appearance?
I wish I had shot of that "double-rectified genuine bust-head" and some corn dodgers!

Re: Thanks / Fill your hands!
John Wayne is my fave western actor hands down, so he is the only one perfect for the role. Since we can't resurrect him I don't know who could play the part. I love Tom Selleck, but don't know if he'd be right for the part. I could see Sam Elliot working as Rooster. Those two, and Robert Duvall, are my favorite current actors in westerns. Other than that I got nuthin'.

I'd like to see the original digitally remastered with Glen Campbell removed and an actor inserted.

Good morning
Anyone ever read the BOOK ? I found one years ago at a yard sale. I decided I could handle something beyond Lewis L. and I was not dissapointed.
Then I saw the movie and I was amazed how closly the script followed the book. Probably read it again along with Robinson Crusoe this time down in Peru.

Heard that Cogburn would be played by Eddie Murphy and the ranger by Brad Pitt.
Hope that's wrong -- dont' care for Mr. Pitt.

If that comes about, they'll have to change the name of the movie to "True Pitt"!!2571 wrote:Heard that Cogburn would be played by Eddie Murphy and the ranger by Brad Pitt.

+2 take john wayne out of the movie and it's not much of a movie. his best movies were john wayne playing john wayne. not john wayne playing a character.mklwhite wrote:+1Ysabel Kid wrote:Not sure if anyone could match JW as Rooster Cogburn!
