Welcome to the forum. It's a great place as you'll soon learn if you haven't been lurking. Pics are highly recommended. Good to see another lawman join the campfire. Watch your six.
Welcome, ... plenty of room around the fire, but sorry to hear of your Winchester problems ,.... if Marlins drool, then Winnies are rusted for being below them!
Seriously, nice to hear of some old levers being used and passed on!!!

I went to boot camp, USMC, with some fellows form Dripping Springs in 1979.
welcome! have a 1914 src. something special about them. plus you can buy ammo relatively cheap when compared to other centerfire big game cartridges .mines a shooter and a hunter, a little rough and worn. BUT,NOTHING COMES UP TO MY SHOULDER FASTER. I SHOOT IT OFFHAND BETTER THAN MY OTHER, MORE EXPENSIVE RIFLES. your gonna like this forum.
thanks to all guys pics will be posted fri i hope the wife looks at me funny as i sit and hold the ol src thinking of all her history theres no tellin what shes seen and done.....

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you just picked yourself up a classic levergun from the good old days. Those old leverguns have character and history.

You're allowed to use yours on the job? I'm so envious! My agency does not issue or authorize any rifles. We have 870P issued to road guys almost always loaded with slugs. Welcome to Leverguns!
Winchester M94 30-30 (1980)
Winchester M70 Westerner 30-06 (1982)
Winchester M1 Garand (1942)
Too many others to list - hope to add more levers soon.

Also you didn't say it but do you reload if not start, didn't say you use lead bullets get casting yes this site is like a disease with no cure. Ha Ha lots of worse things in life.
Glad to hear your sons are going to be shooters and hopefully hunters.

whats the "best" bullet to use in this ol gal? have not shot her as of yet too hard to get to range due to deer season hunters. would cast lead be best? all shots will be in 50-100yrd range. thanks barrell is alittle frosty but still good grooves
