OT: My Dog in Snowstorm (photos)

Post by KirkD »

I really like a dog that doesn't have to be coddled, a dog that is afraid of nothing and can snore away in blissful comfort in the middle of a howling storm. I just took these photos a few minutes ago of our dog Bruno. He's a Maremma, five months old today and weighs about 75 pounds already. He's going to be a strong dog by the time he's a year old. These dogs are bred to guard livestock against predators. Our dog just guards the yard, and he's already doing a good job at 5 months of age. A few minutes after I took the first shot, my 13-year old daughter went out to shovel the front walk (completely on her own, mind you, without even a hint). Bruno rousted himself out of his snug snow bed to 'help' her and the second photo was taken.

Kirk,

I'm going to show this thread to my cats. I'm gonna tell them if they don't behave I'll throw 'em out in the snow and leave 'em.

That pooch just looks like it loves the cold and snowy north. I'll be he'd suffer badly in a hot climate.

That's awesome! Dogs are so cool! Of all the animals, man is the most willing to practice self pity.

Kirk,

That first picture is worthy of many an award. See that you get it into some competitions or gallery's. It is photographic genius.

Glad you all are getting a kick out of the photos! It is night here now and I just stepped out to give the dog a bucket of water and some food. 'Where's the bloomin' dog?', I wondered. Couldn't see him anywhere on the sheltered side of the house. Just then a snow drift moved and Bruno emerged from the snow, not more than ten feet away! If he's got his eyes closed, everything is white except his nose, and that is usually covered with his tail.

Cool dog and no it's not meant to be a pun. When I lived in North Dakota I had a pure black German shephard and he loved to run in the snow. He'd stay outside so much you'd think he was white.

Had a Mackenzie River husky. Acted like a kid in the snow.

Deleted - dunno how this duplication came about but, I'll take the stand most tech support "services" I've contacted - "IT WAS THE COMPUTER'S FAULT"

In truth my computer did "crash" - though in slow motion - and I've been reinstalling and reinstalling - and reinstalling - since.

I guess it keeps me out of trouble but, at my age, finding some temptation is more difficult than resisting it.

The look on his face in the second pic makes me miss my Lance. He used to love to play ball mock fight with our female... though she didn't always appreciate it

Great picture Kirk. That looks like a Christmas card. And great looking dog as well! He's a keeper.

My huskies have always lover the snow as well, and just bury themselves and their faces in it. I don't have as a good a picture of them as you, but here are a couple of my Keesha:
