Hello All! Introduction and such.....

Post by Bronx »

Hello Folks,

My name is Martin, I live in the Bronx, NYC. I'm a VFW, Navy first Gulf War, my brother is a LTjg on an SSN at the moment as well. Anyhow, I do a bit of computer work, play guitar (27 years) and used to shoot when I was younger. Long story short I got a hankerin' for a levergun in .357 for general purpose shooting fun and admiration. I plan on getting a wheel gun as well in .357. The economical/utilitarian ability to shoot 38 across weapons is appealing.

I'm a southpaw who is just getting back into shooting. I'm lusting after the current re-issue of the Winchester model 1892. Seems to be a fine gun considering it's manufactured by Miroku of Japan whose been manufacturing reknowned firearms for 100 years. It would be nice if American classics to be made in the USA but I do have some lovely handmade Japanese knives (I'm an accomplished home chef) and the metallurgy/ craftsmanship is superb. Besides the Japanese are the folks who made the katana, so a good martial tradition is there.

Just wanted to introduce myself. This seems to be a rather pleasant board and I look forward to gaining knowledge and sharing my experience.

Thanks,

Martin

Welcome to the fire. As mentioned there is a wealth of Knowledge in here especially about the 2 you mentioned. I am sure there will be a bunch of responses about the rifle you are interested in. I have an itch to own one myself in .357 as it is one of the cheaper calibers to shoot. Many board members shoot them, and can give you some good insight on the subject. If you do buy one make sure to post a picture.

I can't wait to get out of this city. We want to move after the youngin' graduates high school and goes off to college. They're actually going to tear down Yankee stadium and build "Heritage Park". That'll most definitely invoke the ire of the Babe. Gun laws here suck, they haven't figured out that criminals don't obey the law.

If you wanted a nice set of same-caliber firearms, you're on the right track...

Welcome to the fire. I have the .357 levergun/pistol/derringer combo. LOVE THEM!! My lever is a rossi '92, tuned by our own NKJ. It is my primary hunting rifle and truck and protection rifle. My revolver is a smith 3 inch J-frame with adjustable sights, out of the performance center, and the derringer is a Bond Ranger. Both handguns carry stag grips. All three are SS, the lever is two tone with a receiver sight. Good luck with your choice.
