OT-Old photo of two men with sixguns.(identified)

Post by rangerider7 »

What do you think?

Image

Las Cruces Town Constable Frank Brito, right, with his deputy, Santa Rosa Rico, left. The photo is from about 1917.

Look at this website if you desire to know more.

Those two guys look like the real deal to me. Everything about them; the guns, leather, boots, cloths just look right.
They both look to be wearing badges of some sort as well.

These ain't no city dudes dressed up for a photo.

Them fellers put their guns on right along with their britches, and took 'em off the same.

Lace-up boots/shoes; gaiters on the man on the left. A "No Nonsense" pair, if ever there was.

Real deal, IMHO.

When I first looked at the picture I thought they looked like they were mine gaurds from Arizona the way they were dressed but they could be from West Virginia.

Looks like a father and son photo to me.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I don't know where you find all of these great photos, but they sure are interesting .
Like so many in that day and time all the men seem to have there buttoned all the way up. I've read that it is a hold over from the ol' world ." Men always wore a tie , just in case the Queen might pass " Not sure how true , but more recent photos seem to suggest this.
Hope to view many more ....

I believe it is an optical illusion because their heads are disproportionate to their bodies. Then again, most of the "old" photos seemed that way....something in the lens?

Great old photo! I don't know what they are, but they are not cowboys. They are a hard scrabble looking pair.

That's no staged studio photo. Don't know what they did for a living, but they look like they'd get it done.

I think the other guy is his deputy, Santa Rosa Rico.

Real good story about the man and shows this picture and one just before he died.

I looked at the picture again and noticed your edit, RR7. I see what appears to be a badge on the Constables belt. Can't really tell from the glare, but I think that's what it is. I didn't notice it the first time.
