Capt. Tom Hickman Texas Rangers 1926

Post by rangerider7 »

This is a photo of Captain Tom Hickman. It was taken at the Fort Worth Coliseum in 1926 during the Fat Stock Show held then in the Historic Fort worth Stockyards. He was probably a guest rodeo judge at the time, which he loved to do. Great photo! The second photo is of a custom made automobile badge that he and "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas used during the oil boom days. It was bolted between the tubular bumper of their cars. Capt. Gonzaullas told me they would just point to it and the gate would open. Hickman gave it to "Lone Wolf" when he retired.

I know a Texas born lady whose maiden name is Hickman, so I sent this link to her.
She and I worked together once and Tom was one of her ancestors.

I like seeing how the real folks looked. I also find it interesting where his rifle is as most guides today tell you that is the wrong place and wrong way to carry a rifle. I dare say that Office Hickman knew very well how to carry that rifle as his life most likely could depend on it working.
