"Front Shoulders..."

Post by Buck Elliott »

I see this pop up from time to time in various posts.

The ONLY shoulders a 4-legged critter has are in FRONT, guys...

I've never read of anyone shooting (or aiming at -- ) a REAR shoulder, or a MIDDLE one either, for that matter. TOP and/or BOTTOM shoulders also never appear in print (nor in anatomy books...)

How this "folksy" terminology entered our fair language is a matter for others to determine, but I suspect it has some root in the (unfortunately-not) uniquely-American tendency toward repetitive redundancy.

So -- give my poor brain a break -- OK...?
Regards

Buck

I have to admit I let a lot of such things go on by because I dealt with English as a second language speakers for so long. Sometimes it is hard to avoid laughing out loud.

Forget the "front shoulders", I kinda like the "Texas heart shot".

The Texas heartshot is more than likely related to the Portuguese head shot.....

And here I thought a rump roast was when you got your butt too close to the fire trying to keep warm.

Hmmmmmm, My shoulders are connected to my ARMS not my legs. Maybe what defines shoulders is being connected to the NECK and HEAD!

Threads like this give me a mybrain headache.

Don't forget to pray for the starving pigmeats in New Guinea.

A coworker was giving me his recipe for something and he said "add plenty of Farmer's Arm cheese:. I lost it when I realized he meant Parmesan!

This is plagiarized from someone else, but I love it!

I have a water heater. If the water was already hot it wouldn't need heating. I also wonder if gunsmiths deposit safeties in safety deposit boxes.

John Taffin had a good one the other day. People declaring the front sight is a partridge sight. I guess they would need a grouse sight or a pheasant sight too.
