OT - "American" Food

Post by Griff »

I LOVE this county's culinary diversity. Monday nite I had South Carolina's version of BBQ and corn bread. Mmmm, mmm, GOOD!

I then traveled over 4 borders without showing any kind of travel permit and last nite dined on pure Cajun heaven. Jambalya, boudin balls, and shrimp creole! Awww, there's nothing like it in the world!!!

Today I only cross one border and travel thru one foreign country (Houston), and will end up in "the Valley" and enjoy the repaste of "south of the border" Mexican cuisine! None of that multi-lingual Tex-Mex for me tonite!

And, lastly, tomorrow I'll dine on Venison, baked potatoe, corn-on-the-cob and the wife's homemade cornbread! Anyone wonder why us truck-drivers are fat?!

Truck driver, eh? Same here, though I'm the exception weighing in at 155... same weight I've been since I was 20 and my bride then fattened me up a bit. I've got a fast metabolism.

But then again I hate spending money on food out on the road so I tend to eat light which keeps me slender.

Griff, the next time you pass through the Houston area, let me know. Lots of places to eat good food here, where there is no place to park a big rig; I would be glad to meet you and take you to such a place.

I'm sitting in Houston at the moment. Guess I'm not likable enough for any invitations.

If you love catfish, there's a place on US49 in Jackson, Mississippi about a mile south of the Pilot on the east side of the road that serves fantastic catfish with fried pickles and some great hushpuppies. We need a drooling smiley.

Griff, I was in Houston myself Wednesday and today for some business meetings. Couldnt wait to get the heck out of there. I hate cities and their traffic. At least the company provides me with a car and a driver so I dont have to drive myself. I feel sorry for any truckers having to drive thru Houston, that traffic is always bad from what I can tell
