gun cover
A few years ago I ordered some stuff out of a catalog & noticed they were selling gun covers that were made to wrap around a rifle while you were hunting with it to protect the wood from nicks, dings, & scuffs. If I remember correctly (more & more dubious with each passing year!) they were made of neoprene & wrapped around & fastened with velcro & could be trimmed to fit different rifles. I thought at the time that it might be something I'd want in the future, so I made sure to save the catalog. Well, you guessed it - now I'd like to order a few but I can't find the darn catalog. And of course I can't remember the company. Any of you guys familar with this? Thanks.
Re: gun cover
They aren't made any more. We were talking about them at the shop just two weeks ago. I think (see this is due to CRS) they were called Gun Chaps. There is some new old stock out there. Just advertise.

Re: gun cover
Dings and scratches add character to a huntin' gun. Personally (and nothing personal
), I would be embarrassed to go in the woods with such a covering, even on a 5K 1886 Winchester I was toten around.

Thanks for the info. I know some of you feel dings add character, but I was planning on taking my Win. 95 in .405. It's pristine, & I'd like to keep it that way. Like a new truck, once it gets beat up, another ding is no big deal, but that first scratch & dent hurts. Maybe I'll try camo bow tape. I ain't taking it into the woods to show it off - I don't care if it looks ugly at the time. That ugly will come off - scrapes are more permanent.

Re: gun cover
Good evening to ya Larsen E.
I still have a camo "Kane Gun Chap" on my 1895 cowboy (a pic is in the "What'cha huntin' deer with this year" thread). It's about 20 years old and been on two different rifles, good stuff for protecting your wood.
They haven't been in production for a while, I've searched. Have seen them on some of the auction sites; including the non-firearms sites (ebay), that were new in box.
Good searchin' to ya,
OkR

That bow tape (and we've removed a ton of it from guns sold/traded or brought in for cleaning) is a real pain and does NOT protect from dents...Larsen E. Whipsnade wrote:Thanks for the info.
