OT - Prayer request for my Dad...

Post by RSY »

Howdy, fellas. If you've got room, please keep my Dad in your prayers. He is up at our place near London, TX and he may have had a stroke. My brother-in-law and stepmother are driving there as I write this (12:54 AM, CDT). I've been trying to call him and now there is no answer. I fear the worst, but have to maintain faith.

Thanks, amigos.

Prayers have been sent. I'll be anxiously awaiting an update and hoping for the best.

They're en route back to Austin now to see his doctor. My wife the RN thinks he had something called a T.I.A. From the info on the worldwide-intergoogle-web, it looks like she may be right. Possibly complicating things is the fact that he's an alcoholic in denial who de-toxed only a few weeks ago (refuses to go to extended treatment). Could be his liver releasing toxins/hepatitis, as well. Whole situation is a mess. Did I mention he fancies himself an atheist, as well (although he's too smart for that)? Sheesh...

Muchas gracias,
Scott

OK, scan shows we have some sub-dural (sp?) bleeding on the brain with loss of gross motor skills on the right side. The surgeon is encouraged by the fact that he's speaking, even though he has trouble coming up with the desired words, and by the fact that he doesn't have a headache. Surgery gets underway in about 2 hours. Thanks, again. Y'all are some good folks.

Prayers sent up requesting God's mercies, protection from His ministering angels, and complete recovery. Blessings to you, loved ones and family as you wait through this harrowing time. Whether we understand the situation or not, God is in control as we call on His name (when two or more are gathered together...):
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

RSY, prayers sent. I had a good friend who survived a T.S.I. He did fine after medication. I'm a little worried about the surgery you mention, so I'm saying some prayers. God Bless,

Thanks, again, to all.

He came out of surgery with flying colors. He's going to have a nice-sized scar, but the reversal of symptoms was amazing. Beforehand, he couldn't raise either of his limbs on the right side and was having trouble finishing sentences because he couldn't come up with the words, even though the thought was there. Immediately afterward he was talking normally and had full use of his arm and leg. Simply amazing what a little pressure from a small amount of blood on the brain will do to you.

I can't thank y'all enough. God has heard every one of you.

That's GREAT news, Scott ! !

Cheer up, and keep in mind the "three phases" of family life:

The first 20 years, you raise & take care of your kids. 8)

The second 20 years, everyone's relatively on their own (or should be).

The third 20 years, your kids have to take care of YOU ! ;)

Ahhhhh - The "Golden years". :)

Via con Dios, Pardner !
