Malcolm Scopes ???

Post by cavebob »

Some time ago, I emailed Hi-Lux Optics about purchasing a Malcolm long scope [M634321] to mount on my Winchester 94 Legacy with a 26"octagonal barrel.

They replied promptly:
"You need to order a 18" short Malcolm scope for your win. 94........The long Malcolm scope is a little too long fpr your 26" barrel. You need to have at least 28" barrel for the long scope. If you have any questions about this scope, please feel free to contact us. Thanks for your interests."

This was very puzzling as you can see in my next email...

"......This is the same rifle that is pictured on your web page on Malcolm scopes

The picture is incorrectly labeled <<Long Malcolm Scope on sharps>>
It is in fact a picture of a Win 94 Legacy - the scope seems to fit well
Further this is rifle referred to in one of your testimonial articles << Winchester Model 94 >>"

It is several months and I have had no reply

Can anyone clarify this for me

Thanks
Bob

The only thing I can think of, is it might have logistical problems with a top eject Win.

I agree with Mescalero1. If yours is a top eject, they say you need the shorter scope. Not sure how they differ looking at the pictures???

Thanks for replies
Trouble is both my rifle and the one pictured on their site are the same - late model angle ejects

Unless you've got a real long neck and fear the kiss of the dreaded scope viper

In the magazine article, it looks like the guy has the objective well past the front of the barrel. That might be hard on the scope.

Is the eye relief long enough to be able to mount the scope foward of the receiver? I love the old fashioned look of these scopes!

Cavebob, the scope looks like it fits well on the rifle they show and is far enough forward to keep one from getting bit. I suspect the reason for no return email is because they feel a little stupid.

P.S. The best price I've found is at Powder, Inc. If you find a better one I'd like to know.
