20th of next month it will be 51 years for me. Air Force feeds good but cant hold a candle to the Navy, we spent some TDY's at Keflavik NAS, Iceland and I always gained 5-10 pounds in the 45 days, those guys know how to feed the troops!!

Are you sure you aren't a bit early? The little sign at the bottom of your group says August 1981.

Not sure why Aug. is on the sign. Could be because that was the full month we were there.
We actually graduated in early Sept. :D

Thanks for your service. June 25th it was 42yrs ago for my time in the Army after a 'Greetings" letter from the good folks at the Draft Board. Great time in Germany '67-'68, not so much in Viet Nam '68-'69, really sucked recovering in the hospital '69-'70.

The TI in the picture was SSGT Brown.
He was one big dude with a very loud bark.
I really liked him, he was one of the better TI's, very pofessional.

That's a relief. My was an, oh well, you get the picture. But it was some years earlier, and they weren't as "evolved". Amazing how they all tend to look alike. Must be the hat and glases.

A "Frosty Freddie", when I went through in Aug 1962, was what the DI called the poor guy who didn't make the rope swing over the mudhole in the obstacle course, fell in, and came out looking like a mud dauber.

Wonder if it was the same mud in '62, '70, and '81?

[Wonder if it was the same mud in '62, '70, and '81?]

I think it got better with age, since AFAIK the DI's used to water it every evening after hoisting a few at the NCO club. ;)

I mean - SOMETHING hadda be done, 'bout stopping the evaporation from the heat, ya know.
