What is your BBQ gun or what would your BBQ gun be?
Rangerrider, got me thinking about what BBQ gun I'd like to have by his BBQ gun post and I didn't want to hijack his post.
What is your BBQ gun or what would you like your BBQ gun to be?
I vacillate between a Colt SAA w/4.75" bbl., C or D engraved and then nickle plated w/fire blued screws, or a S&W Schofield, C or D engraved and then nickle plated with fire blued screws. That would start me off.
If you have a BBQ gun pictures are mandatory.
And, they'd have ivory grips.

Re: What is your BBQ gun or what would your BBQ gun be?
Well this one would have to be mine. It is a 1904 Colt SAA, 1st generation, nickle, real pearl grips, 4 3/4, 44-40, all original. I would put it in this holster rig. I was told by Texas Ranger "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas before he died that when a Texas Ranger walked in with his fanciest gun and holster rig on, someone would always say, "where you going to the Governor's barbecue?" He certainly had some fancy shooting irons in his life. He said "I wanted the bad guys to see my outfit, it was intimidating to them." "They figured that if I spent that much on my guns I must be able to use them." He could.

Nice Colt, and nice rig Rangerider.
I'd like another nickel Colt's SAA 4 3/4" 44 spl.
Wish I'd had the money and foresight to get Bob Edgar of Cody to engrave one for me when he was able to do it. I've seen several that he had engraved, very nice work, and very traditional style.

Jeez, I was thinking a BBQ gun was something you hunted with and bought the game meat to a BBQ. If this is about flash, well, I don't have much to offer. I guess this would be mine. -Tutt

Re: What is your BBQ gun or what would your BBQ gun be?
The only gun that I have that has any engraving on it (a requirement for a BBQ gun -- in my opinion) is my Ruger Bearcat.
No it isn't shiny and glittery but it's engraved. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Nice pieces, gentlemen.
Bill, I think that commemorative would meet my personal criteria. Other than the inserts in the grips. Nice.

The same as kimwcook in 44-40 caliber. Ivory grips with carved steer head, ruby eye.

This is as close as I can get to a BBQ gun.

Re: What is your BBQ gun or what would your BBQ gun be?
That Patton Commerative was made by uberti for the american historical fondation. The last price I seen that they were trying to sell them for was I belive right at $3,000. It also is silver plated, not nickle. 45 colt. I have never shot it, but lucked into it used but new unfired for a fraction of that. I have less in it than a standard run of the mill unadored model. I do have a colt SA and other clones I do shoot anyway.

My everyday carry is an old 1st gen Glock 22 duty trade-in from the San Antonio PD. It's just an ugly tool nothing special. So, when I get a chance to dress up, you bet, I got two. This birdshead SAA in 45lc and speed bucket shoulder rig when a jacket's called for.

Don't have it yet. Either a Colt SAA in blue, engraved, with gold accents and ivory grips, or for the more modern, a Para-Ordnance "Superhawg" 1911 Long Slide, in stainless steel, engraved, with stag grips.

Here's Texas Rangers Frank Hamer and "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas barbecue guns. Frank usually carried his "Betsy" a blued engraved Colt SAA but owned this one also, "Lone Wolf" carried many fancy guns.

what i think i would like to have for a BBQ gun is one of the 80's browning 65's high grade with the silver receiver in 218 bee. or maybe that marlin century with the engraved receiver, 45-70. mild BBQ.

I reckon this is my BBQ gun, since I've had it since 1959 and we have been down the river together a few times it'll do fine.

Re: What is your BBQ gun or what would your BBQ gun be?
Kim I really like the Mernickle. My Colt is a 5 1/2 inch barrel and it carries great with a good belt, and covers good with a sport coat for church. My grandson has a pair of RNV 4 3/4 inch .357's and has the same holster for one of those. He will 21 on 8-03-09 and will be taking his carry class soon. He will probably carry that rig because he is so good and comfortable with it. I sure do reccomend one and the slide too.
