Levergun,

I really wanted to keep my original post count too. Weather people care or not is irrelevant. It is a status symbol. It tells other people you are not new to the forum and just might accidentally have learned something.

When Hobie told me the post count would not be carried over I fixed that in my own little way. Look at the bottom of this post, under my sig line.

I wish it would return as well. There were a lot of folks with over 4,000 posts, a few over 6,000, and Hobie over 19,000! They deserve the recognition! :D

Meh. Couning posts is like counting antler points - an exercise in antler-wagging that is immaterial to the amount of meat you take - or in this case leave.

Post count is certainly NOT a waste of time! Ya see, every time we see someone with a post count of 1, we all get to chime in with "Welcome to the fire", etc., thereby building our post counts!

But really, what Joe said has merit. As usual! :D

Personally, it's good for me to get cut down to actual size once in a while. After all, I was really only an "Advanced Poster" not an Advanced Leverguner   I consider myself in the company of the latter however. Alright, now to get out in the freezing garage and stuff some Mt. Baldy 250 Keiths over the already sized/primed/charged cases :x I hate winter!

I used to use the kitchen table at our old house which was a pain, but warm at least. In our new house(3 years here) I have been pushed out by our little ones.....hands always into everything so I keep it all outside in the garage. Sure would be nice if my garage was in Arizona though.

Personally, I don't know how I feel about the post numbers. Other than it's nice when someone is giving advice to see a high numbered post as, at least with me, I feel they've been around for a while and I should give heed (always keep the salt shaker handy!).

Hello all,
I am mostly on this site for learning a lot of thing I not know, and to understand life in other countries. Have been shooting and reloading for about 25+ years and only have lever rifles now. I like to read about the differnt vievs about nearly all topics, it makes me to understand more about life and about people. In the years before I found this site and the old one I sometimes felt a little lonely about my liking for leverguns, but now I know I had the right feeling about them.
So, thanks to all for give me an opertunity to learn more about life.

I totally agree. I've noticed that Paco doesn't post nearly as often as alot of folks, but I've learned more from a handful of posts from Paco than from a 1000 posts from other members. High post counts are relatively easy to attain if you take the time to add a one or two word response to every post that comes along, but it doesn't always add to the conversation.

WEll let's not get all politically correct over this......If we all just posted when we had something intelligent to say to actually add to the conversation then this site would be really slow.

Part of these forums (If not most of it) is to have fun. Razzing your friends, joking around, silly comments all kinds of stuff make it a fun place to be.

An active forum always has folks to talk with. I would venture to say most folks on all forums are not just there to gather information but to meet folks and have fun. Companionship and such. That is what I think these forums are really all about after all isn't it?

Having fun and sharing our hobbies and adventures with one another. Sure beats the heck out of TV!

59stude, Welcome to the fire! Grab a stump, sit down and enjoy the warmth of it! Now, when ya git 500 posts, you can start to share some of that 25 years of knowlege! :P Just joking with you....you can start sharing ANYTIME! As others has so aptly put it, it's QUALITY, not quantity that makes it right.

What I know about leverguns is what I learned here, and actually TRIED out what I learned, gaining a certain amount of experience as well...

Just moved the herd to a new and better pasture.

Lots of sound advice on here. One way to look at it is the quality of advice, comments, and willingness to share those.

High post can mean some just talk alot. But it can just as easily mean there is a lot more of the above mentioned to be shared than can be posted in a small number.

Those numbers will roll back, all except mine. I'm more the listener type. but will sure a unique personal experience now and again.

It's always been amazing that if I may have a question I can usually find an answer here without having to ask. Others have the same situations.

Not sure if status comes from numbers alone.

Post counts are counter productive. People start to reply to everything, even if they have nothing relevant to say, just to add to their numbers.

Post counts...Schmost counts!

Post by LeverBob »

They have no meaning for me...just means that the person spends more time sitting on their azz typing an opinion. The posts that have meaning for me are those that share meaningful information...data & insights that can change a persons life...whether they are about technical matters or personal philosophy, etc.

Some newbies have a half century of experience and so a low post count may detract from the weight of their opinion in some minds. Not mine!

Other times...the insights are priceless, whatever the post count.

No offense meant...and I'm proud to be a family member.
