I gave my dad my 1892 .357 mag for Christmas. I was planning on getting one this year sometime to replace it. Well I found a nice looking 20 inch barrel rifle with a nice action for $250. A little high but what the hey Anyway it has what looks like tapped holes for a tang sight. Does anyone know who makes these sights for the Puma or Rossi 92s? Any help is apprciated.
Steve Young, a.k.a. "Nate Kiowa Jones" will know - he is our resident expert on these guns. $250 sounds like a deal to me! Post some pictures when you get it!
$250 is a great deal around here. If I were you I'd jump all over that one. I found a trapper length 357 and just love it. No problems, great accuracy, it's become one of my favorite rifles.

Any tang sight that will work on a Winchester M. 92 will work on that gun. I think the hole spacing is approximately 2 3/16". There should only be one extra hole, as the tang screw is also used as the rear sight hole. Any other combination of holes (more than one) is not standard, but a sight may be available that fits the non standard spacing. $250.00 is a very good price if it's not totally trashed.
Well i got it on layaway and wil get it out next friday! yeah it seems to have only one extra hole in the tang. I am not sure of the spacing but will check. It seems to be a decent job. I will post picks when I get it. Yeah I got my last 92 for $375 so 250 is great
You guys are in for some sticker shock. I recently got my 2008 dealer price sheets for three different company's. For the standard all blue 20" round barrel carbines prices start at $410 wholesale before S&H. On average it looks like everything went up $30 to $40 depending on the model. Crazy part is the brass frames cost more than the stainless now.
As for the D&T-ed hole it your's, the rossi oct rifles come with it, the round barrel carbines don't. If you got an octagon barrel for $250 go back and kiss that guy.
I like this W&E adjustable tang sight. It's heavier built than the marbles and will completely cover the tang safety on the Miruko/Win 92's.
Thanks for the info. it is a round 20 inch. It has a hooded front sight. This looks like it was done by the previous owner. It looks ok and not a sloppy job but i dont know if I will keep it. As for the drilled tang it looks decent but I will need to measure it to see if it was done right.
