Nate, that's priceless! :lol: :lol: I'd include the Colt "Cowboy" in there also.

gak,
Yep, I typed it first, then thought again... since I didn't have 'em in front of me... I just couldn't be absolutely sure which was 1st.

Forgot to mention; these foreign companies are continually changing hand and names; Ruger is located here, and I've yet to have to pay for any replacement parts from them.

Also, when you get your guns, don't go fagging them up with a whole bunch of new parts just because some one weekend a year SASStard tells you you need to; just shoot the darned thing, and if it works, leave it alone! You might need a trigger job, but there's no sense in sending a gun straight to the smith without trying it out.

Yep, even Colt had enough sense to drop that one.

As for the chichen or egg thing (ASM or Uberti) the ASM's were imported by both EMF and Cimarron but the QC went to hell in the mid 90's so they both dropped ASM. Not long afterwards ASM bankrupt. I personally like the ASM's if they work well. They had the correct lines and correct cylinder bevel and color-case that was better than Uberti's But they will never be as durable as the other because they were too much like the early 1gen Colt. the bolt fingers were too sharp and tend to chew the cams off the hammers. Colt fixed that early on with the pressed in cams and then later with the rounded bolt fingers

Uberti, Ruger = Honda
Colt = Harley
Yes one will get you there just as well as the other.
BUT- there’s no feeling like a Colt in your hand or a Harley between your legs.

+1

though I have owned a Kawasaki (my first), three harleys (I have a street bob currently) and One honda (I have a superhawk 996, last year of production)

And I have owned Taylor, rugers, USFA, and colts in SAA (though the ruger really isn't a SAA) and I would say, for SAA its either the USFA or Colts for me. (I have one Colt in .44 special) and Freedom arms for Single action hunting (I have one in .475 Linebaugh). The Rugers are what I grew up on in Single action handguns and I would not really need anything other than those. They are strong and well made.

I currently have Ubertis in 38-40 (colt bisley clone) .44-40 (3inch sheriffs model)birdseye and .32-20 with a .32WCFM cylinder also birdseye.ALL SA's and all excellent guns (and very affordable even new -mine werent).They hold good groups at 25 meters,digest most ammo I put in 'em, and nothing has broken as yet.Fit and finish are very good to excellent. Will I buy another?Sure.Would I like a COlt SA?Sure. Will I find one I can afford?Prolly not as I am into these 3 guns for UNder 800 and I would spend well over that for one SA Colt.Fini.bj
