One of these just may do the trick!

After all, how many burglars come into your house driving a tank?

One of the shows I occasionally watch is "It Takes a Thief" on the Discovery Channel. They just started running the old shows again this week, at 4:00pm EST. It is a "reality show", where two ex-burglars show homeowners how vulnerable they are to a break-in by having one of them break in!

I'm always amazed at how many people leave important things unsecured. One of the burglars favorite targets is firearms, as some of the members here have found out first hand. :(

I can't stand thieves. I know it is a pain, but I lock up the safe every time I close it - and mine is a dial.

If you open your safe a lot and it has the keyboard, change the combo regularly so that you even out the wear on the keys.

I've had so many electronics fail I do not trust a keyboard - I don't want to have to tear my own safe apart. My walk-in has a dial.

I have a Fort Knox Guardian safe for about 12 years. It has a dialup lock which I prefer over the keyboard style.

This particular safe has been locked and unlocked almost on a daily basis all those years, sometimes several times each day.

About two months ago I noticed the lock was not spinning as freely as before, so being somewhat handy, I took the safe apart and looked into the workings of the the gearing inside the lock. It appeared to me the lockwork was somewhat worn so I called Fort Knox and inquired if I could buy a new one. They said no problem took my name and address and sent one free of charge. Not even any shipping charges. The retail cost of the lock alone is in the vicinity of a $100.00 bucks.

Needless to say I am a fan of Fort Knox safes.
