Chaparral '73 and '66 on CDNN?

Morning all,

I PROMISE, I did use the search button first. And I DID see all the horrible problems with the Chaparral '76s, but I didn't see much anything about the '73s and '66s.

My problem is my Henry Big Boy .357 is whining for company and I saw the Chaparral '66s and '73s on CDNN for $599. Yeah, OK, I'm cheap.

What do y'all think about these two models?

Pays your money, takes your chances. There is NO company handling parts or warranty service for them in the USA. If you get a good one that works and needs nothing, great. If you don't, you're SOL.

The Chaparral guns are a re-incarnation of the old italian company, Armi San Marco. The only Cowboy gun making company that I know of that has manage to go bankrupt three times in the height of the Cowboy Action shootings larges grow period, mid 90's to present. All because of QC issues.

Keep in mind, CDNN is a liquidation company. Some of their guns are left-overs and blems. You may save $200 to $300 over the Uberti but by the time you get it working right you may have twice that back in it.

That said, even the Uberti's have issues. For instance, the 66 loading gate have a history of breaking. So, it's important that you chose an importer with a good customer service record. Currentlly, the top rated for standing behind their Uberti Imports is Taylor's and Company.
Before Taylors it was EMF hands down. But sad to say, they aren't currently stockinjg Uberti guns. Although I did hear a rumor that EMF may soon have some of Uberti's 75 Remmington SAA'a

If you want a 92 that actually works you bet. Do you want it in blue and brass to match your big boy?

No problem guys, I don't mind at all. Sometimes it seem to me, sorting through all these makers is like shooting moving targets. Seems like instead of cleaning up their act some just change their name and run it out there again.
